Embassy of Canada to Indonesia and Timor-Leste 04.05.2021

Canada is proud to join Yayasan Hivos, We Lead, PPMN, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in launching the womenunlimited.id website yesterday. Despite comprising half the world’s population, women’s voices are still under-represented in and sometimes excluded from, public discussions. We need to change this. An initiative such as the womenunlimited website is a welcome contribution towards this struggle, said Ambassador Cameron MacKay. The website provides ...a database of profiles of women from a range of backgrounds and aims to strengthen women’s voices and leadership and reduce the inequality that women experience while promoting women’s representation in public spaces. This event reminds us that we need to continue to work towards gender equity while carving out space for women to voice their views as equal members of society at all levels.

Happy International Francophonie Day! Today we celebrate the French language in all its diversity around the world. Bilingualism is part of the Canadian identity, and just like in Canada, our Embassy is proud of the diversity of our francophone community which includes both Canadian and Indonesian staff. In celebration of this special day, here are some members of our francophone community with their favourite French word. What’s yours?
