On Tuesday, March 30, the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table sounded the alarm that the pandemic is completely out of control. This grim announcement comes as no surprise as health officials have been giving warnings for weeks that Ontario has been at a critical tipping point with new variants projected to spread more rapidly and inflict greater harm. Despite these warnings, the Ontario Progressive Conservative government has driven the province over the edge and straight into the third wave. Read more: https://marxist.ca/article/wtf-doug-ford

Workers have lost job hours to third-party, non-union contractors employed by Coca-Cola. By reducing the hours of the regular employees and replacing them with workers who are not paid as much in wages, the company can cut costs. The workers, on the other hand, are left at home, waiting to be called in. Read more: https://marxist.ca//solidarity-with-striking-workers-at-ca
This past February in Ontario, there were three separate lockouts of workers, all within the span of eight days and all of which are still ongoing. Workers at the Fenner Dunlop facility in Bracebridge were locked out on Feb. 14, Security officers at the Elements Casio Flamboro were locked out on Feb. 18, and finally, workers at the Molson Brewery in Toronto were locked out on Feb. 20. As we enter the seventh week of struggle it is important to take a close look at how we got here and the next steps to ensure victory across the board. In response to a mining development in Nunavut, Inuit hunters fought back by blockading the Baffinland airstrip and mine access road. This was in response to the company attempting to steamroll the project forward in spite of widespread concerns over the expansion. In an amazing sign of solidarity, a group of employees stranded by this blockade penned a letter expressing solidarity with the Inuit protestors. This points the way forward for the movement. The despotic President of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, is refusing to step down, while the impotent bourgeois opposition appears incapable of forcing him out. The Haitian masses must break with the rotten bourgeois regime altogether, and establish a revolutionary constituent assembly. Read more: https://marxist.ca//haiti-the-fight-against-dictatorship-a
MARXIST SCHOOL - CLASS, PARTY AND LEADERSHIP: HOW TO ORGANIZE A REVOLUTION Why have we not yet achieved socialism? If we look at the history of the last 100 years, no decade of the 20th and 21st centuries has gone by without at least one major revolution taking place somewhere in the world. Time and again, the working class rises up to change society. The missing factor is a revolutionary party armed with the ideas to lead it to victory. How to build such a revolutionary ...organization, and how it can lead the working class to a victorious revolution once the masses enter the scene of history, are vital questions for anyone fighting for socialism today. This presentation will be given by Julien Arseneau, a member of the editorial board of La Riposte socialiste. Register now! marxist.ca/school
While it is understandable that many workers, youth, people of colour, immigrants, and the left in general would be pleased to see something done about the Proud Boys and other fascist groups, is banning the group or having the state declare it a terrorist organization the best way to deal with the far right? Should we be concerned that the same measures used against the far right could be used against the working class and its organizations?
