Canadian Foreign Policy Institute 16.05.2021

NDP members, activists and MPs shouldn’t accept a defence critic who refuses to question the military’s seemingly untouchable budget and outsize influence over policy makers.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a bad influence. NATO strengthens the worst tendencies of Canadian political culture.

Join Libby Davies, Svend Robinson, Zahia El Masri, Hammam Farah and David Mivasair for a discussion on the importance of Palestine solidarity in the NDP. Please join us on April 5th at 7PM ET for this important discussion. Register for webinar at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_w9EFGkIfQnaljwzQef-D0g *** At the upcoming NDP convention, important resolutions have been put forward regarding Palestinian rights. This has elicited external backlash from groups and individuals... and pressure to suppress debate. This discussion will address the importance of giving members the opportunity to debate and adopt two widely endorsed pro-Palestinian resolutions. One of these resolutions opposes the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s anti-Palestinian working definition and examples of antisemitism, a document designed to suppress discussion of Palestinian rights. The other calls on Canada to end economic ties to illegal Israeli settlements and suspend bilateral arms trade until Palestinian rights are upheld. The NDP’s position on Palestine matters. The Trudeau government tried to block the International Criminal Court from investigating Israel’s war crimes, regularly votes against widely supported UN resolutions upholding Palestinian rights and expanded a trade agreement that treats settlements in the occupied West Bank as part of Israel. This event is free and open to the public Hosted by: The Canadian Foreign Policy Institute Co-sponsored by: Independent Jewish Voices Canada, CJPME - Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East and Courage Media Sponsor: rabble.ca April 5, 7PM EST Free and open to the public.

There are numerous reasons #Canada should not spend $19 BN on a fleet of #warplanes. These funds could pay for tens of thousands of units of social housing, and guarantee healthy drinking water on every Indigenous reserve https://buff.ly/3jLthfL #NoNewFighterJets
