As the TAO says: "Do not be afraid of going slow, be afraid of stopping" During these times of unique character building for all of us we wish Covid would stop but we cannot be afraid of going it slow while we are working out of its grip on our humanity. My collage work has slowed up as the weather is calling me outside plus, I am in school to become a official registered art therapist. It is going great and I am enjoying my classmates immensely. The collages are called Covid Collage #35 Intentional Flowers and #36 More Intentional Flowers. LOL..... I just love making flowers out of collages. This is my thing! Did you know that collage work is a medium often used in an Art Therapy Studio? Enjoy and happy summer to all.
This is a new way of doing my Covid Collage Creations and it comes from an idea at school. If you want to create a poem and have a writers block take a page out of a book and blank out the words and leave the words you want on the page. Its called Block Out Poetry. So I took that thought and blocked out words...lots of them with collage paper. Also I have started to do collage inside a book creating an entire book of collages. This is a form of Altered Books which is one of the ways to use materials in Art Therapy. The days are busy with school work, and life in general in the summer. Also I attached my Henry Moore type sculpture on our recently purchased picnic table.
I start school this Thursday and I wanted to do a collage at the front of my lesson book. It is called...you know KUTENAI after the name of the school I will be attending for the next two years. My Covid Collage Creation is called IN A HURRY. I wanted to see what I could do in less than 10 minutes without thinking just grabbing the paper, cutting and gluing. Sometimes thinking too much just doesn't work, but sometimes not thinking enough doesn't work either. Case in point! LOL Laughing at yourself is good for your soul.
I was accepted! I am now on a journey starting next week to obtain my Art Therapist Diploma from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute in beautiful Nelson BC. Therefore.I took a small break from creating Covid Collage Creations to prepare my application. In celebration I have created what I call Flowers of Hope. I have learned the hard way that no matter what don't loose hope! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported my community work as Art as a form of Therapy. In two years time I will be an official Art Therapist for our global community.Enjoy the series of Flowers of Hope.
