NAZARENE COMPASSIONATE MINISTRIES CANADA (N.C.M.C) The Salvation Army Canada in partnership with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada and with World Hope Canada, has agreed to provide online Disaster Response trainings (on specific Saturdays in January and February 2021) in the following course. - Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services (required course)... - Foundations of Emotional and Spiritual Care (the Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services is a prerequisite. You can't take this course until you have completed the introduction course). You will note that one poster is about training in partnership with NCM Canada (Saturday, January 23 and Saturday, February 27) and the other poster is about trainings in partnership with World Hope Canada (Saturday, January 16 and Saturday, February 20). Nazarenes are encouraged to take the trainings set up for NCM Canada (January 23 and February 27). But, if those particular training dates do not work for you, then feel free to register for the World Hope Canada training instead. (The Salvation Army is allowing some World Hope participants who can't make the World Hope training dates, to join our Nazarene trainings). You must register in order to take the training. Email [email protected] to register. You must take the basic introductory training in order to volunteer with the Salvation Army during a disaster. Therefore I encourage you during this COVID season, while your coming and going is restricted, to avail yourself of this amazing opportunity and take these trainings. There is a limit of 25 per training and it is open to Nazarenes from coast to coast, so I suggest that you register early!

In times of uncertainty, when many things feel out of our control, expressing generosity, whether through acts of kindness, volunteering, or through charitable ...donations helps us to feel a sense of normality. Over the past year we have been so thankful that Camp Harmattan has been able to help provide a physical place where people can feel a bit of this normality. Camp Harmattan is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of people just like you. And yet, one of the biggest realities we have faced this year is the drastic reduction of our revenues including a reduction in donations of over 65%. If you have never given to camp before, we are asking you to consider getting involved. We are asking you to join our giving team by giving to our Giving Tuesday goal on December 1. This is your invitation to be a part of something big!! We would love to see 400 people give $25 for a total of $10,000. This $10,000 will help jumpstart our year end giving need of $100,000. #givingtuesday2020

NMI Fall 2020 Virtual Deputation Service A few years ago, Rev. Jay Sunberg was our district NMI convention guest speaker, so many of you may have met him. I am thrilled that Rev. Jay and Teanna Sunberg are OUR FALL deputation speakers. "We witness brokenness every day across Central Europe. To humans sold for sex, sold for labor, sold for organs, to the Roma (Gypsies), to victims of prejudice, illiteracy & poverty, to the lonely, God cries, ‘On this day, in this place, ami...dst this people, MY Kingdom is coming.’ We do see God’s kingdom breaking through in 11 countries where Believers dare to claim that strongholds crumble in the presence of a mighty God. Our Church is strategically planted; in Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland to be a theological, social, and geographical grassroots arm of rescue and restoration. Jay & Teanna serve as the Field Strategy Coordinator team for Central Europe. Together with +20 missionaries & volunteers, we are your sent hands, your sent feet, and your sent heart. In each country, brave national pastors and lay people throw open the doors of the kingdom daily. This is Central Europe - average, ordinary people doing great things for God because He has called and He has empowered us. We labor for a paradoxical kingdom that is not fully here, yet already here. We live by faith. And you? Will you experience the kingdom in Central Europe with us? A PRAYER FOR OUR CANADA WEST DISTRICT STUDENTS AND TEACHERS Loving Father, We continue to offer You praise and thanksgiving in these days of uncertainty. Today, we especially pray for our children preschoolers, elementary, middle school, high school, college students - and for our teachers going back to schools. We pray for their health and safety as classrooms and schools have been modified to allow for proper social distancing and hygiene. We pray for the janitorial staf...f and cafeteria workers, as well as the office staff who are essential employees at schools that are open; we pray that You would keep them safe and protected from the virus. Please protect the families of the students and teachers as they return home each day. Would You bless our staff and our students with peace and the confidence to move forward into these next few weeks. Father God, we pray for the students who will be doing school virtually; we pray that they have the resources they need to do schoolwork at home. We pray their parents will be able to balance work and watch over their children through class times as well as any additional homework. We pray for the teachers who are having to manage new classroom expectations and for those who must switch to online learning formats, that they would be able to have the resources and technology training they need. Lord, we thank You for these teachers who choose to spend their time nurturing and developing students; we know there are so many facets of teaching that expand outside the normal bounds of classroom teaching. We thank You that teachers can be a resource for students who may be struggling with non-academic conflicts. We pray for open communication between teachers, students, and parents. We ask You would give our teachers, students, and parents the patience and the grace they need for this new type of schooling, that they could all work together to accomplish what needs to be done. We commit each one into Your care. Please guard our children’s hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Thank You that You are sovereign over all things. Amen. Thinking of you! A disaster in Lebanon...

Human trafficking, also referred to as trafficking in persons, involves the recruitment, transportation or harbouring of persons for the purpose of exploitation, generally for sexual exploitation or forced labour. It is a complex, far-reaching and highly-gendered crime, one which disproportionately affects women and girls. Human traffickers exploit human vulnerabilities created by poverty, sexism, racism, wage inequality, and a lack of education, social supports, and employment opportunities. What is our role as a church to prevent such harm against others and to bring healing where there has been such abuse?

Let us be in prayer for the loved ones who are grieving the loss of their family member.

Good morning! This week's service is unique, in that it will be held for the whole church district. You will see many familiar faces, and probably some new ones as well. Come celebrate with us as Canada West District worships, listens, and works together. If watching this makes you think of others who are currently out of reach, take some time to pray for them, and give them a call. These difficult times have made many things challenging, but we are not completely separated. This video, which brings together churches and ministries from three different provinces shows exactly that.
