What's better than asking one conservator? Asking a whole team! #AskAConservator
Ruth del Fresno-Guillem: "The artist's interview is an essential tool because the conservator can ask the artist firsthand anything crucial for the correct preservation of their artwork. Maybe we misunderstand what it is to be preserved, how, for how long. Each artist's definition of damage can be the key to a correct conservation strategy. It is always an honour and a pleasure to work with artists. Conservators can learn so much from listening. - Ruth del Fresno-Guillen of Ruth de Fresno Integral Art Services and TestimoniArt. #AskAConservator #ArtistINterview #PreventiveConservation @Ruthdelfresno @CocoGuzmán

The CAC-ACCR member, Ann Shaftel has published this CALL FOR PAPERS. if you are interested, please contact her directly. "Does your conservation practice include work on thangkas? Whether you are based in the museum sector or in private practice, we want to hear from you! Established in 1970, Treasure Caretaker Training www.treasurecaretaker.com is a non-profit organization dedicated to working closely with nuns and monks for the preservation of Buddhist treasures in monaste...ries and communities. Our current project, the Preservation of Buddhist Treasures Resource, is a free online reference with practical information on digital documentation, risk assessment, disaster planning and recovery, and safe storage techniques for the preservation of thangkas and other sacred objects. It is written in direct response to questions asked by monastics, and it is illustrated with images from their monasteries. Each chapter is reviewed by monastic and conservation colleagues. Currently, we are seeking written submissions for an upcoming chapter on thangka conservation treatment. We are grateful to colleagues who are willing to contribute their expertise to benefit the monastic community. Submission Deadline: November 20, 2020 Please direct submissions and inquiries to Ann Shaftel at ann.shaftel (at) dal.ca or 001 9022221467." See more
