Custom February #4 ( Canadian Biker : issue#333) The Gold Rush Glide . This beautiful gold custom began life as a 1982 FLH rigged out for travel but that is not what the builder wanted just having traded a car for the bike. The old school bike was intended to have a new school feel and yet still have a wheel in both camps - a new motor, a jockey shifter and new wheels were just the start of the transformation. As it is Custom February, and the cold weather we are experiencing, hats off to the photo shoot in the snow! Custom February #3 Back in issue #285, there was Hot Chocolate. The man wanted a lightweight, original custom bike that goes like stink and looks cool so he built it himself. You don’t get a bike with such simple, clear and traditional lines as this chopper with a Yamaha XS650 mill the easy way. A great deal of cutting, welding, planning, modifying and a few whoops moments went into the creation with just about everything that could be changed, changed including giving the motor a gig bore kit to produce a very respectable 76hp. The elaborate build is documented by the builder Corey Kruchkowski in a story on the website- https://cdnbkr.ca/hot-chocolate-xs650/

Custom February #2 Mike loved Moto Guzzi motorcycles. He had owned four at the time of this story from Issue #247. One of them was a 1983 Le Mans MK2, a cafe racer, that he put 200,000 kms on over 15 years. When he decided to home build a stretched chopper the Le Mans got the call as a donor bike. Handy around motorcycles, Mike fabricated most of the pieces himself as it is a long way from cafe racer to chopper and this route is seldom, if ever, taken. While the look was different, he did what he had done with the original bike, he took his new and unusual machine on the road. If a bright yellow Moto Guzzi chopper can’t bring a little sunshine into February, what can? Is it the middle of winter still? As a diversion, we are going to highlight some of the great Canadian custom bikes we have featured in Canadian Biker through the years during this month of February that, although the shortest, might seem like one of the longest months of the year. The first is one of our most recent feature bike from issue #350 - a beautiful, handcrafted custom based on a 1968 BSA. The builder, Robert Lund, takes great pride in the intricate details and the sourcing of unusual components to make each bike one of a kind - so nice we put it on the cover. "Soul Asylum" was not Robert's first bike in Canadian Biker. The other was equally impressive and perhaps it will turn up down the road. More pictures and the story in Lund’s own words are on our website : https://cdnbkr.ca/
