Hi all! I had some unexpected time to check out the Don Mills /Amexon site on Monday. I found Jenna on the Sony sign . I watched her for a bit, then she looked up and started echupping... Dad? I saw nothing and then she was gone. I was just about to leave when Chester flew in! And soon after, Jenna joined him. They did a lot of talking and echupping (adorable), then Chester flew to the nest, calling Jenna. She ignored him, lol, and continued preening. They are good. Always lovely to see them. Stay safe everyone!

Marriott hatched at the Toronto Downtown Sheraton Hotel band 06 over AW still hanging out in the Oshawa area. See report below. The falcon in the first three photos was in the south end of the Second Marsh near Lake Ontario and the other photos were taken in the southwest corner of McLaughlin Bay in Oshawa. Tom

Here's another bit of great news that almost slipped past me! This was received from Dana back on Sept 28th. A notice was posted on E-Bird about a sighting of a peregrine juvenile at Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto by a local birdwatcher. She was photographed and ID'ed as Eleven Z/34 with red tape, a 2020 female juvie from Don Mills - https://ebird.org/checklist/S74175819 Follow the ebird link and then scroll down the list to the peregrine to see Eleven's picture by Paul Prior. Sorry I almost missed this Dana!! Thanks so much for sharing the great news!

Rockette Our 2020 Windsor Ambassador Bridge fledgling was captured Sunday October 11th by Bob Hall-Brooks and Chip Ogglesby at the Lake banding station at Holiday Beach. She was healthy and has gained 59 grams since banding. She was then released to continue her fall migration.

Great news from BLOOR/ISLINGTON nest site in ETOBICOKE, home of D'ARCY and LUCKY!! One of their kids has been spotted in Ohio!!! This is NINO, C/13 (looks like his blue band has fallen off). A huge thank you to JANICE SOOS FARRAL who took these photos at Sandy Ridge Reservation in North Ridgeville, Ohio! She sent the photos to CHAD & CHRIS SALADIN (C&C's Ohio Peregrine Page) .. they forwarded them to KATHY MAJICH, who contacted me with all this info. What awesome networking!! If anyone would like some history on this year's site, check out my posts and photos from June 13, 15, July 1, 25. Cheers, Lucie

Well it looks like Marriott has found a travel companion I hope;) Here is an update sent in yesterday. Thanks Terri for the report and a big thank you to Ron for the beautiful photos. Hi Marion This is Terri Martin... I am requesting an ID on a band Peregrine Falcon I saw at Halls Road in Ajax on August 21 2020 The band is on the left leg and it is all black the letter are 06 AW on the other leg is a piece of yellow tape. There are two falcons nesting there and have been hunting the gulls and ducks. The other Falcon is not banded. I am sending you a picture of the Falcons and would love to know who the banded Falcon is and where he came from. I worked at the nuclear station in pickering and retired in 2019 last year. I hope they are still going strong with the falcon program. I was involved in the banding of the falcons. It was always so exciting. Hope you are doing well. My boyfriend Ron Warner he took lthe pictures and says you can post the pictures if you like. The falcons both look quite young. Here is an update sent in yesterday.

Mariott was seen and photographed at Cranberry Marsh Whitby on Thursday Aug 20 2020. Looks like a popular spot for our juveniles this year. Hope he has a safe and successful migration south. would be nice if he met up with Bella and the 2 head south together. Thanks to Greg Dudley for sending this report and for his fantastic photo.

Cool news from Bloor/Islington in Etobicoke! Our juvenile female, BELLA, has taken a trip to Cranberry Marsh in Whitby, Ontario. Our thanks to Elkanoh Oldacre, who spotted and took these awesome photos on July 30. Cranberry Marsh, just off Halls Road, is one my favourite places to see shorebirds (We were there yesterday, but Bella was not around) To give some perspective I have included an 'as the crow flies' distance map. She travelled 50km (30mi) which is really nothing for a peregrine. I'm not surprised that I haven't seen a lot of her and now we know one of her destinations. Cheers, Lucie :)

Checked Yellow Pages nest site again and no hatch :(

Canadian Peregrine Foundation 11.07.2020

Update on Bloor/Islington in Etobicoke. After 2 weeks of spot checking and seeing no sign of BELLA, I can't tell you how happy I was to finally see that yellow tape at yesterday's spot check! It was a wild day of flying for our 3 banded juvies (BELLA, SANTO-red, NINO-blue). At 8:00 pm, our 4th and unbanded juvie flew in from who knows where and joined his siblings for the night. Still hoping to get a nice photo of all 4 together. Cheers, Lucie

July 24th 2020 Scarborough nest site update: Sad news! Sadly, I have bad news about the status of the Scarborough nest site as of my visit this afternoon.. Again a big thank you to Petra security for spending the time with me today as we meticulously checked all eight ledges for any evidence of a hatch. The first clutch of three eggs still remains, still abandoned, and now quite sun-bleached almost pure white and look more like white chicken eggs. And to be very clear,, th...ere are NO chickens here! As we walked around the entire upper elevation of the building to check each of the eight ledge pockets, there was absolutely no visible evidence or sign of any "recent" peregrine activity,, all lacking the typical body-part remains of left-over prey or any fresh blood staining on any of the upper leading retaining wall ledges or ledge pockets. This along with the fact that there was no evidence of any fresh white-wash tells a story in itself! A strong indication that there has been no "recent" peregrine activity. As we finally worked our way around to the ledge that has the more recent "second clutch of 4 eggs", we quite expected to be greeted by at least the resident adult female, (which has been Linn from Rochester NY all these years), who was clearly identified during my last visit via her leg bands,, but sadly did not happen. Never have I NOT been "greeted" by Linn as she is usually VERY AGRESSIVE and always "IN MY FACE" during my visits over the years. Linn is NOT shy to express her displeasure,, and over the past years has become a "FULL CONTACT" gal!!! Unfortunately, the 4 eggs in this second clutch of eggs remain unattended and have not hatched as of this date. They now remain more than 36 days old it would appear that they too have now been abandoned. After more than 35 minutes on-site, we did not see a single peregrine! :-( I will return one last time next week to re-confirm my observations and conclusion. Mark CPF See more

Spot check : Toronto /Don Mills /Amexon : I was delighted to see all three juvies yesterday! First I saw all three having their afternoon siesta, from my office, on the sign at 250. Then I dropped by after work and found all three on the nest ledge! Rey had food and plucked and ate it while the other two watched. They all look great, nice to see all three hanging out together

Spot check: Toronto/Don Mills/Old Harlequin: A little late posting these pics but I was by last week and saw both our juvies and parents, all doing great! Canuck was on his corner(:)) when I got there. Food was brought in and Canuck got the goods! But before long, in swooped Seven and the chase was on! Canuck took it screaming from the roof of 235 over and around to the back of 240(Seven disappeared over the forest). He was only two over from the workmen working on ...the building He was not happy(the workmen enjoyed the show though!!) and didn't stay long with his food and headed to the roof. But Seven didn't leave him alone for long and chased him over to the back of the nest building. He landed but Seven chased him off. I watched this all--heart in mouth at times--such low chases, around buildings through hydro wires, screaming the whole time lol. But all was good and ended with two very pooped juvies. Fun to watch! As seems to be the way for me, I am woefully behind on posting. There has been no shortage of both work and challenges for me so first let me apologize for not sharing this amazing news sooner. Our dear Raptorette who hatched last year at Canada Square and has since turned up in Anderson, Indiana has successfully raised her first family with her mate Peenie!! Her two chicks were banded last month, a boy named Blaze and a female named Freya. Both chicks were healthy and feisty and we want to thank Jeff Timmons for his continued support and information on our Raptorette and her success in Indiana not to mention the fantastic photos. Thanks so much Jeff!!!
