Good Afternoon! We at the Canadian School of Private Investigation and Security are taking a number of precautions to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. Before addressing our physical preparations, we would like you to know why we strongly believe live, in-class training is the best way for our students to learn. While online resources can be invaluable to the learning process, in areas as vital and sensitive as the security and private investigator sect...or, we believe it is essential to learn in a practical setting with direct supervision from qualified and experienced instructors. At CSPIS, we teach real-world skills and we ensure students have a real-world setting in which to learn. However in having said that, due to COVID-19 concerns, we are offering learners a number of options outside of live training. For example, students can attend all or some of our live classes through Zoom or Google Meets. For those who do prefer on-line training, there is an online version of our program available. If you choose to attend classes in person, the following are among the COVID-19 Precautions we are taking: 1. Upon attending, you will be asked several health-related questions before entering the premises. 2. We will be using an IR touchless thermometer to ensure attendees do not have a fever. 3. You will be requested to wear a face mask at all times while on the premises. If you do not have one, we will provide a mask for you. 4. You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon entering and wash your hands frequently during you time here. 5. You will be asked to maintain social distance as you enter and exit the premises, and we will be limiting entrance to one person at a time. 6. We have set-up a large room to ensure that social distancing is maintained at all time. Upon entering you will note that only selected seats are available. Please choose an available seat where you are comfortable, and keep that seat throughout the sessions. 7. You will find some barriers in our reception area. Please remain in designated spaces while in reception and do not congregate in this area. For any individual matters, please ensure the receptionist is unoccupied with another person. If you have any questions, please reach out to us and we’ll do our best to help.

What do you think the most important skill in security might be? Should a professional #securityguard be super-observant? Possess extra-ordinary strength? Be able to run fast of jump high? Actually, the answer might surprise you. You may have heard Edward Bulwer-Lytton’s famous phrase that the pen is mightier than the sword. In security, it’s absolutely true. Your greatest asset as a qualified security professional is the ability to write well and express yourself clearly. ...In other words, English literacy! In our most recent blog, we speak about the ways you as a security guard use #englishliteracy as part of your daily routine. Regardless of your current language skills, or how far you’ve gone in school or whether you recently arrived in Canada, English is the language you use to effectively interact with others. In this blog you’ll find out whether your skills are up-to-par. And if not, you’ll learn what you need to do to improve. As always, we look forward to reading your comments down below and if you have any questions, leave us a comment or give us a call. We're here to help! If you're up for the challenge, we've created a sample English Literacy test for you to take to see where you stand and what areas you might want to improve in. It can be found at the bottom of our blog. Good luck! https://cspis.com/communication-skills-for-security-guards/
