It has been a difficult and challenging past couple weeks for us all, as we continue to battle and overcome the #COVID19 pandemic. It was a difficult decision to make, but CARF has cancelled the 2020 fundraising event at the Alexander Keith’s Brewery in June. The health and safety of all delegates of the CAS annual meeting is of utmost importance, and we stand behind all decisions that were made by the CAS during this challenging time. The support CARF has received over the p...ast couple months towards our 2nd annual fundraiser, and our campaign CHANGE 4 CARF, has been overwhelming and we are beyond grateful. The cancellation of this year’s event only means that our 2021 fundraiser in Quebec City will be even BIGGER and BETTER. Stay safe, stay healthy. We will conquer this together. If you have any questions at all, please contact Director of Development, Katherine Palumbo at [email protected]. See more

Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation 16.05.2020

#WednesdayWisdom: did you know that since it's beginning in 1985, #CARF has awarded 252 grants to #Canadian #researchers? As a result of diminishing funds for anesthesia-related research from provincial and national agencies through the 1970’s and 1980’s, the #CAS identified that new funding for focused laboratory and clinically-based research would be essential in advancing the knowledge base in the field of #anesthesia. Only in this manner would continuous improvements in... clinical anesthesia, perioperative #medicine, and acute and #chronicpain management be ensured. As a result, CARF was founded in 1979 to administer #research funds, and provide support to researchers in anesthesia who are members of the CAS. The funding framework allowed the CAS to launch the Society’s Research Grants Program in 1985, with the first annual CAS Research Award being presented to Dr. Howard Nathan for his work on Anesthetics and Myocardial Ischemia. Today, the Program administers $200,000 annually! To learn more, please visit our website at www.mycarf.ca, and subscribe to our email list!
