2020 Virtual Summer Development Camp Day 3 Day 2 of the 2020 Canadian Blind Hockey was an amazing experience we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! The session included two powerful modules that focused on overall wellness of the mind and body. Full Potential Performance Coach Danny Patterson led the group through a workshop on the importance of working on and monitoring your own mental health, and checking in on those close to you, especially in the trying times crea...ted by COVID-19. Canadian Blind Hockey wants the entire community to know that we are here for you, and if you ever need anyone to talk to someone please don’t hesitate to check in with our staff or key volunteers at any time. Seriously, we are one Blind Hockey family, do not hesitate to call! Danny then transitioned the workshop to focus on strategies and techniques to develop your mental mindset for peak performance in both hockey and in life. The second module was Yoga taught by Accessible Yoga expert Vivian Chung who is herself a blind athlete who competes in triathlons. Vivian led the group through a one-hour class that focused on stretching out the major muscles used in hockey which was truly accessible to not only all levels of vision impairment, but also all levels of experience. Vivian recommends that all Blind Hockey players engage in some form of stretching every day which will eventually lead to increased flexibility and performance. The final Day 3 of our Virtual Summer Development Camp takes place today, Thursday August 27, once again between 7:00 pm 9:00pm eastern. Today’s theme is Strength and Conditioning followed by a group workout. Be sure to join us to learn techniques to make you even faster on the ice as we approach return to play. To register email [email protected]. The seventh annual Summer Development Camp is part of our "Blind Hockey at Home" programming and is 100% free for all Blind Hockey players to attend. Canadian Blind Hockey programming is made possible by our presenting partner AMI, our national program partner CNIB Foundation, as well as partners the Daniel Family Foundation, Electra Health, and Manion.
