We are pleased to be partnering with the Ayalik Fund and Jackpine Paddle to implement a youth environmental education and personal development canoe trip program this summer 2020. The program will see a dozen Inuit youth, ages 14 & 15, from the Kitikmeot (Arctic coast) region of Nunavut fly to Yellowknife for a two-week canoe-camp on the Pensive Lake Loop.The program will include outdoor and canoeing skills training and social activities for the youth, directed by a team of e...xperienced Jackpine Paddle staff, led by owner/operator Dan Wong. The boys will be eligible to qualify for Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Skills and Camping Wilderness Leadership certifications. We hope several of the youth participants will develop an interest to return in future years for more advanced training and in time become outdoor guides themselves! Lots of "water health" presentations and hands on activities led by Ocean Bridge this weekend in Ottawa.

Canadian Canoe Foundation will be attending this unique event that will raise funds for the Kitigan Zibi Canoe & Kayak Club. We have partnered with the club on several youth environmental and cultural education projects over the years and look forward to this event and upcoming youth projects. See you there!

Canadian Canoe Foundation supports CPAWS' call for increased % of protected areas (areas that are high value for biodiversity protection and restoration, including a focus on corridors/connections to allow for species to travel safely between protected areas).

Chimeda, we are paddling 2019. It takes a community to bring 25 youth on a two day trip down Tenagadin Zibi, the Gatineau River. Thank You, Migwetch, Merci to e...veryone from Kitigan Zibi, Wakefield, Chelsea and Cantley who helped make this happen! This project is a reflection of the amazing community building work of Celine Whiteduck and Jan Cote who are constantly creating opportunities for youth in Kitigan Zibi. Many parents helped make this trip a success, thank you all! A huge shout out to Vicki of Expéditions Wakefield who showed up with her truck and trailer at the most important moment when we were soaking wet, cold and tired. Gratitude to Louise Schwartz who warmly welcomes us to her home on the river every year.
