Our current challenge is Bugs. Let your imagination go into fantasy, reality or inspiration from your stash. As our display will be totally online, there are no size restrictions. Create a bug and take a photo/photo(s) of your finished project. The creations from the challenge will be shown at our online meeting in January.

Kathy Bissett, from the Waterloo County Quilter's Guild, has sent us an email about an upcoming workshop: The WCQG is offering a workshop with Lyric Kinard (https://lyrickinard.com/home/) in October. It opens to non-members on September 27, 2020 and there are some spots open. If you are interested you can register and pay on the guild’s website (https://www.wcquiltersguild.on.ca). You can get information about the workshop at: https://lyrickinard.com/workshops/abstract-a-licious/

Pat M has been catching up with some tiny projects - working in 1/12 scale on miniatures. That includes some petite point work and miniature bobbin lace. Some work is from a Janet Granger kit. The tiny chair cushion was stitched on 28 count even weave linen. A little kitchen completes the trio.

Judy E tells us this about this piece: This is my experiment with learning needle lace and needle weaving. The cording was made by stitching over a selection of threads and yarns on the sewing machine. These were woven and couched onto a piece of silk fusion and then the needle lace was worked into some of the spaces. Needle weaving was used to fill up other spaces. Finally I used the silk overtwist technique to fill other spaces and then added some stone chips to complete the textural detail. This was layer and quilted on the machine. I was very easy to do and worked up surprisingly fast.

Here is a delicate little landscape designed and stitched up by Elfrieda. She was kind enough to share it so we can all enjoy it.
