Silvana is 24 years old. She is from Syria and came to Greece, walking by-foot two years ago. She is here in Greece by herself. She used to live in Jasmin School (squat). During that time, she was always afraid to sleep. She used to put a knife under her pillow in case anyone attacked her. She never felt secure. After that, a lady who used to come to the Lydia classes referred her to attend the classes and brought Silvana with her. She loved the atmosphere and she felt welc...omed. She saw the joy we had and loved the feeling of security that we provided. She said, ‘I feel like I am home.’ She used to come every day and ask if she could be a volunteer and help other women. We told her that we’d love that. Unfortunately, the next day the Jasmin School (squat) was closed. When I called to check on her, she was crying. Then we were able to place her in a women’s apartment. Since that day she is living there and feels secure. She told me, ‘since I came to Greece, I’ve never slept so good.
