Here is the latest in immigration news: Nova Scotia Invites French-Speaking Candidates in New NSNP Draw On March 29th, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program invited French-speaking candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. The draw was held through the Express Entry-linked Labour Market Priorities Stream of the NSNP. Invitations were sent to candidates who had selected French as their first official language, with a Canadian Language Benchmar...k (CLB) score of 9 or higher in all French language abilities (reading, writing, listening and speaking), and a score of 7 or higher in English (for all language abilities). The total number of invitations sent out in this draw has not yet been released to the public. Candidates were also required to have either a bachelor’s degree or completed a program of three years or more at a post-secondary institution, as well as having a valid Express Entry number. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canada’s provinces and territories to select immigration candidates who meet their labour market needs. Here is the latest in immigration news: 335 Immigration Candidates Invited to Apply in New Manitoba PNP Draw On March 25th, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held a new draw, inviting... 335 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. In this draw, invitations, also known as Letters of Advice to Apply, were sent to candidates from the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, and the International Education stream. Under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, 285 invitations were sent to candidates with a minimum EOI score of 423. 9 invitations were sent to candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas who had a minimum EOI score of 711. The final 41 invitations went to candidates in the International Education Stream, which does not have an EOI score requirement. 49 of the invitations went to Express Entry candidates. Here is the latest in immigration news: 418 Candidates Invited to Apply in new Saskatchewan PNP Draw On March 24th, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held a new draw, inviting 418 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. This draw saw invitations sent to candidates who were eligible for the International Skilled Worker category of the SINP. Of the candidates invited, 235 were eligible to be nominated through... the Occupations In-Demand sub-category. The remaining 183 were eligible for the SINP’s Express Entry subcategory. All candidates, regardless of the stream they were invited under, required an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 70 in order to be invited. They also needed work experience in one of the 78 in-demand occupations listed on the government webpage. This Tech Pilot draw was held through the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories of the BC PNP. Candidates who received invitations to apply were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate... subcategories and had a minimum provincial score of 80. Until April 30th, 2021, the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is open to Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holders working in jobs classified under NOC skill-level D. NOC Skill-Level D jobs usually call for on-the-job training, and include field workers, and cleaning staff, among other positions.... Here is the latest in immigration news: British Columbia Invites 208 Immigration Candidates in New Draw On February 2nd, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program invited 208 immigration candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence through its Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories. In this round, the minimum required score for candidates varied by category. Under Express Entry BC, the cut-off scores for each subcategory were:... Here is the latest in immigration news: IRCC Announces Changes to ECA criteria & assessment When you apply for Canadian immigration, you are required to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), a document verifying that your foreign degrees, diplomas, and certificates have a valid Canadian equivalent. As of November 2020, those who have a PhD do not need to submit a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree to be assessed. The same goes for those who have a master’s degr...ee, or a bachelor’s degree. As well, WES, an IRCC-certified ECA provider, recently announced that immigration applicants only need to submit their highest completed credential. The instructions are a little different for those who went to school in a francophone country, and there may be some outliers who will have to send in additional credentials. Here is the latest in immigration news: Alberta Holds Second PNP Draw of 2021 On January 28, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) held their second draw of the year, issuing 100 invitations to Express Entry Candidates. In this draw, candidates who received invitations had scores of at least 360 on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). These invited candidates can now apply for a provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.... Here is the latest in immigration news: 5,000 Immigration Candidates Invited Through Express Entry The last Express Entry draw was held last week, on December 23, and the lowest required score was the lowest yet. In this draw, Canada invited 5,000 immigration candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 468. This requirement is one point lower than the last draw, which took place on December 9th and required a minimum score of 469.... The December 23rd draw continued a trend that has seen the cut-off CRS score decrease in each of the last eight Express Entry draws, and brings the number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued this year to 107,350, a record-high number of invitations. Here is the latest in immigration news: Quebec Invites 95 Candidates Through Arrima On January 26th, Quebec issued 95 invitations to apply for selection under the Regular Skilled Worker Program through the online registration portal, Arrima. Invitations were issued to candidates in two categories, who had an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the Arrima portal.... Candidates in the first category were required to have a validated job offer. The second categories included individuals who were in Quebec as a diplomat, consular officer, representative of the United Nations or any intergovernmental organization with operations in Quebec. In 2021, Quebec aims to welcome up to 47,500 newcomers. To immigrate to Quebec under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (RSWP), candidates must first submit an EOI through Arrima. Here is the latest in immigration news: Quebec Invites 223 Applicants in New Arrima Draw On December 16th, the province of Quebec issued 223 invitations to apply under the Regular Skilled Worker Program. Invitations were issued to candidates who had an Expression of Interest (EOI) in Quebec’s online registration portal, Arrima. There were two categories of candidates invited in the latest draw. Candidates in the first category were required to have a valid offer of employment.... Candidates in the second category were individuals staying in Quebec as a diplomat, consular officer, or a representative for an intergovernmental organization with operations in Quebec. Arrima was introduced in 2018 to manage the pool of applicants for the RSWP and to simplify an application intake system that was formerly based on a first-come, first-served approach. To immigrate to Quebec under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (RSWP), candidates must first submit an EOI through Arrima. In this draw, candidates were invited through two subcategories of the International Skilled Worker Category: Express Entry, and Occupations In-Demand. Of the 576 invitations sent out, a t...otal of 190 were invited through the Express Entry sub-category, and 386 invitations went to Occupations In-Demand candidates. Here is the latest in immigration news: Canada holds largest Express Entry draw ever On November 18th, Canada held its largest Express Entry draw ever, inviting 5,000 immigration candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence. In this round, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 472 in order to receive an invitation. This score has been the norm this year, with many draws requiring CRS rankings around 470.... Express Entry is Canada’s immigration application management system for three federal economic-class programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Here is the latest in immigration news: Canada created 84,000 jobs in October In October, Canada’s unemployment rate was 8.9% compared to 9.0% the month before. In response to the increase in COVID-19 cases, restrictions were re-imposed across Canada, leading to slower employment growth and a lower overall number of job openings. According to Statistics Canada’s latest Labour Force Survey, for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of self-employe...d workers increased by 33,000, and the number working at home increased by 150,000. British Columbia led the way, gaining 34,000 jobs, most of them full-time. Ontario was second with 31,000 new jobs created, mainly in wholesale and retail trade, and manufacturing. Alberta added 23,000 jobs in October, increasing its employment rate for the fifth consecutive month after large job losses, with most of the employment gains occurring in Calgary. Finally, employment in Newfoundland and Labrador increased by 5,900 in October, and in Prince Edward Island by 900. Here is the latest in immigration news: Manitoba invites 205 immigration candidates in new draw On November 5th, Manitoba issued 205 invitations to immigration candidates through three immigration streams. The invitations, also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), were distributed as follows along with their Expression of Interest (EOI) score requirement: In the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, 166 LAAs were sent to candidates with a score of at least 461.... In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, 16 LAAs were sent to candidates with a score of at least 708. And in the International Education Stream stream, 23 LAAs were sent to candidates with no EOI score requirement. Out of the 205 LAAs issued, seven went to Express Entry candidates. This draw brings the total number of LAAs issued so far this year up to 4,273.
