Happy International Women’s day everyone! Here is just one brave, strong and courageous woman from the past: Donka Ushlinova also known as Donka Voivoda. Donka and her sister-in-law Srebra are one of the first women to become members of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization against Ottoman rule in Macedonia. Donka was not just a soldier in the Illinden Uprising, but she also fought in the Balkan Wars and WWI. For her heroism, she was awarded medals for courage ...III and IV orders. Banitsa Book Launch Postponement Dear CMHS community, In the interest of public health and safety, and to protect our community, society, family, and friends from potential exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Canadian Macedonian Historical Society has made the decision to postpone the upcoming Banitsa Book Launch originally scheduled on April 5th.... As of March 14, we are cancelling events scheduled for the historical society, and will be making further decisions in the coming weeks based on information from both the Public Health Agency of Canada and Toronto Public Health. In the meantime, we continue to monitor the situation and we look forward to inviting you to join us at a later date.
