We are sorry to report that one of our most loved inductees has passed away. Al Perrett, inducted in 2018, had a passion for motorcycles that became a career. He survived for 50 years in the industry and inspired and encouraged many riders. Our sympathies to his family and friends.

Find here the speech of Michel Mercier - Class of 2008 for his induction into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame : One of the true legends of Canadian motorcycling, Michel not only reached his own pinnacle of success in the varied disciplines of motocross, ice racing, dirt track and road racing but he also helped propel many of our top racers to winning careers through his FAST Riding School at Shannonville Motorsport Park. From the days of his youth in Thetford Mines, Que...., Michel turned first to motocross in 1973 at the age of 20. Two years later he became Quebec amateur champion in the 250 cc class. Michel dominated ice racing by taking five consecutive Canadian No. 1 plates in winter events from 1975 to 1979. in 1979 Michel scored his first win in the U.S. by beating pro Scott Parker. During the next 11 years he won the Canadian No. 1 plate in 1986, 1987 and 1990. Relive the speech of (Mike) Michelle Duff - Class of 2007 upon his induction into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame : Mike (now Michelle) Duff is a renowned road racer who has won respect and admiration not only in Canada and the USA, but around the world for accomplishments in competing in the golden era of grand prix motorcycle racing. Mike Duff at the height of his career competed against the likes of Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Jim Redman, Phil Read, Bill Ivy, Ral...ph Bryans and a host of other current and future world champions and top privateers. This was all in the 1960s, in those it was not uncommon to see massive crowds at the continental GP races; for example 300,000 at Sachsenring in East Germany, and a record 450,000 paid attendance at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno in 1965. In the 1960s, the name Mike Duff in Holland had Wayne Gretzky-like status, given that he was a world class rider from Canada. He was the first person to lap Spa Francorchamps circuit at over 190 kph on a 250, the first North American to lap the Isle of Man at over 100 mph, and the second person to do so on a 500 cc G50 Matchless. He finished third in the 1964 350 cc world championship, and in the same year placed fourth in the 500 cc world championship and fifth in the 250 cc world championship. In 1965 he finished second in the 250 cc world road racing championship. He earned second-place finishes in the 350 cc Ulster GP in 1964, the 250 cc Italian GP in 1964, with lap record, the Isle of Man 250 TT in 1965, the Czechoslovakian 250 GP also in 1965 along with another lap record, the U.S. GP 250 cc class in 1965 and the German GP 250 cc class at Nürburgring again in 1965. In 1964 he was the 350 cc British champion, and in 1965, the 250 cc British champion. Mike set an absolute track record for both bikes and cars at the Elaintarhanjo track in Helsinki, Finland. He also held the track record at Harewood Acres near Jarvis, Ontario. Discover inductee Helmut Clasen - Class of 2007 : A true Canadian champion and tremendous ambassador for motorcycling and for Canada, he raced with Steve Mc Queen ! In his motorcycling competition years in Germany, ranging from 1957 until 1968, the year he emigrated to Canada, Helmut would amass an amazing record of successes. These included 63 gold medals, 19 bronze and two silver. ... In 1962 he won his first gold in an International Six Days Trial, usually described as the Olympics of motorcycling. In 1968 Helmut made his new home in Canada, and one of his first orders of business was to join the CMA and Steel City Riders. He is by the way, a lifetime member of both organizations. In 1970 he rode in the first 24 hour road race at Harewood Acres, entered the Berkshire Two-Day in the U.S.A., winning gold, held the first ISDT school in Canada in Welland, Ont., became the first Ossa dealer in Canada, and created an Ossa 250cc ISDT bike which ultimately became a factory production bike in 1973 as the Ossa SDR. Helmut would win his second gold at the Berkshire Two-Day in 1971. His riding partners on that occasion were none other than Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen, and Helmut has some interesting stories about that ride! The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame is cited in the book "Liberté, asphalte et légendes - 100 ans de moto au Québec"("Liberty, Asphalt and Legends - 100 Years of Motorcycles in Quebec"). This book was written by Catherine David and Charles-Édouard Carrier. They are also directing the tv show télévision Filles de moto in which they reported on the place of women in the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The book is written in French, with numerous photos of illustrations. It is now in bookstores and can be ordered online. https://bit.ly/2GYfVht

New logo for the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame: The CMHoF established in 2006 and has a logo with laurel leaves signifying victory, two wheels, an engine, the Canadian flag and the checkered flag (in gold and white). The names Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame and Temple de la Renommée de la Moto du Canada are inscribed in the logo.... The Muse Marketing agency did a study of our logo and gave us their opinion. According to them, the connection between the wheels and the bike was not obvious. Names are written in too small print. We took these tips and entrusted the mission to Dean De St Croix who produced the new logo. Here is the result. A new logo with a real motorcycle and all the elements of the old one: The bay leaves, the Canadian flag, the checkered flag. To give more space to the names, we have changed the French name. The Temple de la Renommée de la Moto du Canada becomes the Panthéon Canadien de la Moto . CMHoF is now ready to continue its mission of preserving and promoting the history of Canadian motorcycling, as a not-for-profit association recognized as a charitable organization.
