A quick reminder that Canadian Air Transport Security Authority screening officers are now conducting temperature checks as part of departure screening procedures for all passengers departing from Montral airport (as well as Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver airports). 2020 marks 40 years since Fort Chimo was re-named Kuujjuaq. Located along the tree line about 1,500 km north of Montreal, Quebec, Fort Chimo was originally an Inuit camp site, the base from which migrating families caught and dried Arctic char from the Koksoak River during the summer months and hunted seal in nearby Ungava Bay. Thirty-five years later, Pauktuutit is still addressing critical issues for Inuit women in Northern communities, fostering greater awareness of the needs of Inuit women, advocating for equality and social improvements, and encouraging Inuit womens full participation in the community, regional and national life of Canada.
