On June 16th we celebrated our 30th Anniversary Ride for the Children’s Wish Foundation by surpassing our goal of raising $30,000 for these strong children! It was a day filled with a little bit of rain, a little more sunshine, and a lot more laughter. This year’s ambassador and wish recipient is a young lady by the name of JoJo. In 2013, at just 12 years old, JoJo was diagnosed with Ebryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma - a rare form of sarcoma cancer which formed a solid mass in her ab...domen. She underwent 40 weeks of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation - fighting through treatment like a trooper! JoJo is now 17 and is coming up to her 4th year of remission. Jojo received this year’s donations on behalf of the Children’s Wish Foundation. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers, and riders for making this day a true celebration! CANADIAN OILFIELD RIDERS CHILDREN’S WISH FOUNDATION RIDE 2020 Good Day Fellow Riders: I am sure this will come as no surprise to most of you, but as we continue to watch the Covid 19 situation, and the associated necessary actions, we unfortunately have no choice but to advise that, for the first time since the inception of this event, we must officially cancel this year’s ride.... We have a number of our corporate sponsors who have generously agreed to make donations this year, even without the function and we would like to reach out to you, our ridership, to do so as well. There is a donation form on our Canadian Oilfield Riders website we would encourage you to look it up, and make whatever donation you are able. We would like to stress to all, that the work of the Children’s Wish must continue to go on, and cannot do so without the generous financial support they receive from organizations such as ourselves. The Canadian Oilfield Riders are the longest ongoing supporting sponsor, and while we obviously will not be able to make the size of donation to them that we have in past years, we would still like to be able to support them in any way we can. COVID 19 AND THE CANADIAN OILFIELD RIDERS Good Day Riders At this time of the year I would hope to be posting updates and schedules for our annual ride in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation. However, with the current situation of the Covid 19 pandemic, and the associated regulations regarding gatherings, social distancing and the other measures that we all are, and must continue to abide by, the status of this event is currently uncertain. As we are all acutely aware ...there is no way of knowing when this virus will pass, and subsequently when the rules and our social practices will be able to return to normal. So at this point I can only say we will continue to monitor the situation, and when the time comes that we are able to offer more solid information on the status of the ride we will do so. Until then we urge you all to stay well and continue to follow the safe practices our leaders and health professionals are requesting. See more
