A repost from my friends in the Film Biz. Take care. Covid has been here for 9+ months now...and winter is looming. Mental health issues related to our lock do...wn and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression and other mental health disorders. NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, has a 24-hour helpline: 800-950-6264. The relapse and overdose rate has increased by 30% since March 2020. I’m asking my small corner of FB to follow suit: Could any two of my Facebook friends just copy and repost to share the helpline far and wide? Just two. Any two. Say done. See more

We started this group for people who write on all topics relating to Buddhism - with a special focus on Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana and Zen, although all schools are welcome. We support one another, offer creative and well-intentioned critiques, we use our words skillfully. We share our poems, koans, short stories, novels and more. Please feel free to share Buddhism related publishing opportunities, information, events, questions, advice and build community.

Canadian Outdoor Press had the good fortune to be a small part of this years Muskoka Chautauqua, Authors Panel in Windermere. Plenty of talent, camaraderie, lea...rning, entertainment and creativity. Lots of writing, reading, poetry, performance and visual art. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers who made this such a success. Truly, one of Ontario’s best creativity venues. Looking forward to next year. #MuskokaChautauqua #canadianoutdoorpress #audreyjolly #Muskoka #windermereontario See more

ATTENTION SELF-PUBLISHERS AND SMALL PRESSES. Our friends at Bookow offer a FREE barcode service. Why pay for a barcode when you can get one for free. I've used them many times with excellent results. If you like what they do, please consider making a donation to keep the service running, free. #Bookow #ISBNs #Barcodes https://bookow.com/resources.php

I know that for a lot of self-publishers ONIX is friggin' BORING and metadata equally so, BUT if you want booksellers to learn about your book, find it and orde...r it, you need to get a grip. A few days ago, they release a few important updates. ONIX - or ONline Information eXchange is the standard that is used in Canada, the US and most of the world for publishers (self-publishers, indie-publishers) to communicate to booksellers about their wares. Their codes are how most booksellers find your books. If you don't use their codes, your book is essentially invisible to the world.
