Canadian Police Family Alliance 11.11.2020

The Canadian Police Family Alliance is dedicated to serving and supporting spouses and families of members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Our mission is to build a strong network of support, encouragement, and care through outreach, connection and collaboration. Our objectives are to provide advocacy, resources, and programs that will support and strengthen the families of RCMP members. We need your help to cover some of the Alliance’s start-up costs. We intend to repr...esent and support RCMP families by creating awareness of our specific needs within all levels of government. We hope to create partnerships that will raise the bar for services and resources available to RCMP families, thereby honouring their service to our nation. Our Secretary and Treasurer, Sam Rose and Alyssa Woodman, will be managing the funds alongside the rest of the Board of Directors to ensure your donations are used for their true purpose. Giving us any amount of your hard earned money means more than you could know! The family is a key foundation to the operational effectiveness of the RCMP, and our Mounties' work. It is our intention to keep that foundation strong by acknowledging, honouring and supporting the silent sacrifice and service of RCMP families across Canada, and around the world. Thank you for your support.

We're throwing it back this Wednesday with a great reminder from our conversations with Dr. Jody Carrington from last month. Breathe. One of the greatest things we can do to calm our system is to do some deep breathing into the belly. Take a few moments today to pause, inhale through your nose (count to 3), hold (count to 2), and release (count to 5). Allow the exhales to be slightly longer than your inhales, and set some reminders on your phone to practice this multiple time...s a day. #WorkandWellnessWednesday #breathe #rcmplife #rcmpfamily #leolife #CANADAPOLICE

"How often do you have to move?" This question is quite possibly the most frequently asked question when I meet someone new and they find out I'm married to a Mountie. And my answer is usually: "Three to five years." But as my time has gone on in this #RCMPlife I've learned that there's not always a rhyme or reason to the duration of a posting. Between regular GD posts, IPs, LDPs, specialized sections and more, it really can vary greatly. ... So we want to know: What was your longest posting? What was your shortest posting? Share yours below in the comments! #OnTheMoveMonday #transfers #relocation #movingday #homeiswherethercmpsendsus #rcmp #rcmgrc #rcmplife #canadapolice #policelife #thebluethread

Mine would be to not make plans for after shift. I was notorious for trying to keep up with all our friends while balancing shift work so I’d make dinner plans for us after his day shift. You know what happens when you have plans right? They’re late. Then I’d be upset and frustrated and he’d be upset because he felt like he was letting me down. I’ve learned to just leave the plans and get togethers for days off. ... What do you wish you knew then?
