To help support #CdnBusinesses unable to access other federal #COVID19 support programs, the government invested $962M in the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund ...to provide funding through Canada’s Regional Development Agencies. This program has protected 102,000 jobs and supported over 14,700 businesses to date, including over 8,500 Canadians in rural areas and 5,100 women-owned businesses. The government has also proposed to create separate regional development agencies for British Columbia and the Prairies to better serve Canadians. http://ow.ly/OW8b50CzKvO #SupportCdns #EconomicResponse
It takes: 96 minutes for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission satellites to circle the globe 15 minutes for the International Space Station to cross Canada 1 minute to download the COVID Alert app... Protect yourself and your community: http://ow.ly/A1K850CnXMQ.
The government has a plan and will do whatever it takes to fight #COVID19 and support Canadians. Read the Fall Economic Statement to see how current and proposed new measures can help you: http://ow.ly/iOjK50CyHsS #EconomicResponse #SupportCdns
We’ve all seen videos of empty streets and quiet cities due to COVID-19 lockdown, but did it have an effect on air pollution? For the first time, using data from satellite instruments (including Canada’s MOPITT), a team led by NASA scientists demonstrated that the lockdown in China reduced the impact of air pollution on human health. They estimated 60,000 fewer cases of respiratory diseases related to air pollution, mainly asthma. Learn more: http://ow.ly/uauh50CmY7G.

Did you know that taking pictures of Earth is part of the scientific work done on board the International Space Station? For over 20 years, snapshots taken by astronauts have helped monitor the impacts of climate change and track urban sprawl. Almost 3000 experiments have been conducted on the orbiting lab since a permanent human presence was established there in November 2000. Check out photos of Canada snapped by CSA astronaut David Saint-Jacques.

Canada has a proud legacy of excellence in space robotics. Canadarm and Canadarm2 helped assemble the International Space Station, setting the stage for 20 years of science and discovery. Everything we’ve learned on the Station has paved the way for a new chapter of space exploration. We’re building a stronger, smarter #Canadarm3 that will be able to operate autonomously on the Lunar Gateway. Compare them here: https://www.asc-csa.gc.ca//canadarm-canadarm2-canadarm3-co... Yesterday, the OSIRIS-REx team received images of the spacecraft’s sample collector head brimming with regolith. So much sample was collected that some of it is... actually slowly escaping the sampling head. More details: https://bit.ly/2Tkxknt The mission has canceled tomorrow’s Sample Mass Measurement to protect the sample and is now on course to stow the sample as soon as possible. The spacecraft remains in good health and the mission is confident that the spacecraft has collected more than 60 grams of material.
Canadarm2 is Canada’s most iconic contribution to the International Space Station. The 17-metre-long robotic arm has operated in space since 2001, performing important tasks like ISS assembly, maintenance, and even assisting astronauts during spacewalks. Canadarm2 is a symbol of our success in space robotics. Over 500 organizations across Canada contributed to its construction from machine shops and metal finishers to parts distributors and software development. For nea...rly two decades, keeping the Station in shipshape with Canadian robotics has meant that astronauts could focus on conducting groundbreaking science and testing technologies that not only benefit life on Earth, but also help set the stage for the exciting future of space exploration!
