As anticipated, the Bank of Canada left its overnight lending rate unchanged today, as it commented on how the further lockdowns dure to Covid, will change their expectation for the first quarter.

As expected, the Bank of Canada did not changes interest rates today, and stated that they may not be doing so for years to come. Great news! The Bank of Canada (BoC) has just released that the overnight rate will be the same. What is the overnight rate? The overnight rate is the rate in which major financial institutions borrow and lend funds amongst themselves. The overnight rate influences other interest rates on loans and even mortgages.... How will this affect your mortgage? As the BoC rate has stayed the same, there will be no changes to your mortgage payments at this time! Now is a great time for a mortgage check-up.
