Last weekend Techapalooza wrapped up their 10th annual event! This year's battle of the bands was an incredible way to gather the I.T. community online in support of Manitobans touched by cancer. We are so grateful for everyone involved in Techapalooza this year for their incredible fundraising efforts! You've accomplished an amazing goal and will help so many people in our province. Congratulations to all the bands and a special shout-out to the Big Byte Swing Orchestra for being crowned the 2021 champion!

Manitoba meet Sonu Varghese, research trainee and aspiring clinician-scientist. This summer, Sonu was awarded one of four Master of Science studentships through Research Manitoba - supported by you, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation donors. We asked Sonu what this studentship meant to him: ... "The studentship aided in developing my skillset as an aspiring clinician-scientist. Through this project, I gained significant insight on the essential role of clinical trials and developed a sincere respect for the important leaps made by clinician scientists." "Additionally, the funding provided an opportunity to work with a collaborative team of oncologists, cardiologists, basic scientists, and allied health personnel. It is my hope to use these networks in my future practice to translate science from bench to bedside and further advance the field of cardio-oncology." The Pritchard Memorial Tournament is held every July in Carman, MB. This tournament honours the life of Mike Pritchard who died of Cancer in June of 1998. Mike's brother Darren organizes this event and it is the second year it has donated part of the funds raised to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Thank you Darren and all involved in this tournament. Cancer has been a part of Peggy's life for 13 years. Diagnosed w/ Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in 2008. CLL is a blood cancer. It is one of the most common cancers affecting people over age 65. Team member of the Serratus Superstars, Cathy, has been a part of the #ChallengeForLife since 2008. In 2009, she recruited her friends to form a team and over the years they have raised $383,468 for the Challenge. "We're all about raising money for CancerCare, but we're also trying to take care of ourselves," Cathy said in an article in 2013.
