Richard completes the NYC Marathon Off to Boston A Huge Congratulations to C+C Running Factory runner Richard Taylor who put together a fantastic race at the New York City Marathon.... In horrible weather Richard managed to PB and get his Boston Qualifier by finishing 14th in his age group (70+). Richard continues to amaze and inspire us here at the Running Factory. Here is what Richard had to say about training with C+C : I hate the Chris + Chris training program! It is diabolical. But it works! On top of that, I don’t really enjoy running. It is too tough, too painful, too boring and demands too much commitment. But the satisfaction from completing a race is worth the effort, and then some. I began running just before I turned 60 by joining a Learn To Run clinic. I have been running sporadically since then, sometimes dropping out of running completely for periods of up to 18 months. Never the less, I have been able to complete six half marathons, four 30 k races, and four marathons. Here’s why the CandC program works. After completing my first clinic with them, I cut 56 minutes (yes, almost an hour!) off my previous best time for a marathon. Two years later after my second clinic this summer, just as I turned 70 and despite some of the foulest weather ever for the NYC Marathon, I dropped another two minutes, while most other runners were posting times far worse than their usual pace, came in 14th out of the 153 in my age group who finished the race, and managed to meet the qualifying time for Boston in 2016. So my final kick at the can is Boston. With the coaching of Chris and Chris I am aiming to be in the top 10 for my age group. I am not just aiming, with their support I know I’ll do it!

We ended up having a great group of C+C runners come out and participate in the Toronto 10k Zoo Run put on by the Canada Running Series. The team competition was put on by the guys at Black Toe Running Store. Everyone ran really well on what is a hilly, twisty and challenging course and our teams ended up doing very well and having a lot of fun. In the 10k Club Championships the C+C running factory's 5 fastest women team finished in 3rd place. Our mixed team of 3 fastest men and 3 fastest women ended up 4th in their division and the C+C age graded results mixed team ended up in 5th place.
