Music, singing and dancing are at the heart of Métis culturethere are even annual contests for fiddling, jigging, and square dancing! Originating from the Red River area, Métis jigging blends dancing steps from various traditional First Nations, Scottish and French-Canadian dances. Each jigger develops their own unique style over time, and a jigger’s steps can sometimes even reveal where they are from! Lead your class in a jig with the easy-to-follow video (and its accompanying lesson plan) found at onlineclassroom.cangeoeducation.ca. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2YjPzZmlpo
