We put the canoes into hibernation a week or so ago, but looking at what's on the weather agenda today, maybe that was a bit premature!

Autumn is a tricky time - maybe a bit more summer, perhaps a touch of winter! Fortunately, the last group we put on the river this season hit the jackpot early in October. Here is a short essay on a trip where all their lucky stars aligned!

The South Sask R is now down today in S'toon at 500 cu. m/sec, so still about 100 cms lower to go to get close to the level it was at about 3 weeks ago. Still a lot of volume and a good strong current, but not as pushy as earlier. A nice ride for those with the experience navigating a canoe in strong moving water!

I tho't we might have to hold over our last ski class till next yr, but a few inches of new snow saved things! And the balmy spring-like weather was a bonus!

Gather up your tribe on Family Day weekend & head up to the ski trails on Sunday for the Nordic Club's annual Eb's Day open house. Ski, have hot dogs & drinks (free), and ski some more! Reminiscing about warmer days - better than shivering...

Here in 'toon town we've been in the grip of a nasty bully of a "polar vortex" for the last couple of weeks! But just before that, on our last balmy weekend we managed to get in a delightful semi-private x-c ski lesson with Bekki Burton & partner Travis, pictured here afterward in Kinsmen Park. One more item to cross off their bucket list of outdoor adventures!
