As day two of our concert classes conclude in the Vocal Symposium, we would like to send out a big congratulations to all the students who have performed so bea...utifully. Thank you for being a part of this new endeavour and making music an important part of your lives. The Virtual Vocal Symposiums' mandate is to be a non-competitive festival. We are striving to provide the following to the students in our community: 1. To provide students the platform to perform for international adjudicators and their peers on a virtual stage. 2. To support and encourage students in their vocal development and overall musicianship. 3. To provide students the opportunity to perform for a standard (Gold, Silver and Bronze). 4. Adjudicators will provide students with an individual performance assessment. Upon reflection, the symposium committee has decided that it is no longer beneficial or necessary to publicly announce the outstanding performance award. Moving forward, students will be notified of this achievement when they receive their adjudications at the end of the symposium. We look forward to this week of amazing musical performances by our very talent students in the folk, pop and musical theatre classes. We hope that you join us in celebrating their music making.

Sara Fost Pictures is currently casting for the feature film Sweetland, filming in May/June 2021. We are seeking a child ages 9 to 13 to play the role of JESSE.... It's important that Jesse is still clearly a child and has not moved on into teenagehood. If your child is out of this age range, but you think he may LOOK this age, then feel free to apply. JESSE (12), is Moses Sweetland’s nephew. If Sweetland is the 'high priest' of the island, then Jesse is his apprentice, learning and remembering the stories, landmarks and way of life of the island. Jesse does not want to move to St. John's, having a deep desire to stay to hunt and fish with his beloved Uncle. He often converses with the ghost of Sweetland's dead brother Hollis, who only he can see. We encourage both neurodivergent and neurotypical children to apply. Happy Sunday - One week until our Virtual Symposium starts and we cannot be more excited to hear everyone perform!! Please make sure you have completed the med...ia release form. While we are getting there we sill have an abundance of outstanding forms. It would be certainly be a shame if we could not live stream all of our classes so that families can share in the music making. Again, to be clear, if there is one media release form not submitted that class cannot be live-streamed! Please take the time to complete this form - it will not take long and is super easy! Also - Please make certain you have read through the Symposium guidelines and procedures to ensure the most successful performance for your children. Have a wonderful day!

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - LADY COVE BURSARY Once again, we are offering a $1,000 bursary to a developing musician whose primary residence is Newfoundland and Labr...ador (NL) or who graduated from a NL high school, in support of a music education experience. Interested musicians between the ages of 15 and 20 by December 31, 2020 should apply by completing and submitting the application form no later than Friday, January 29, 2021.
