9.5x24.5 inches. Standard stretcher, stapled at the sides and finished with tape. #canvasframed #stretched #originalart #souvenirart #gallerywrapped
Sometimes, stretching prints is the easiest part of the job :)
The 39x59" #canvas #painting is #stretched and out for delivery. Second photo is a piece by the same artist I #framed back in 2016. Love the style :) #cavasframed #canvasstretching #souvenirart @ Oakville, Ontario
Today's project, well, one of them, is this lovely painting. It will be 39x59", gallery frame, stapled at the sides and finished with white tape. Love it when artists pop up again after a while - I stretched a canvas by the same artist back in 2016...
Huh, a triangular canvas, who'd've thought. I'm going to have some fun with the frames I made for practice ;) yeah, getting the angle and size right took a try or two. Bit it turned out beautifully, don't you think?
What a fun piece to frame. It sat rolled up for five years because framing shops quoted the owner way too high a price. Happy to know it'll finally go on a wall :) #canvasframed #originalart #carpainting
This came in over the weekend. Less than 2h turnaround time from drop off to completion. #artandtourism #canvaspainting #framing #canvasstretching #originalart #repinto #paulista Atelier Repinto
A few more recent pieces. The tall ones are about 7" x 32". Stapled at the sides and finished with black tape, so as not to wrap too much of the images.
Another pentaptych. Each panel 16" wide....
Had a rather large order this week. The smallest piece was 38x60", up to 54x85" and 60x65" - and since that last one was just big enough not to fit into our van, we hired a moving truck for delivery.. ..
I just learned a new word: "pentaptych" - a painting that consists of five panels. Not that i hadn't framed several of these before, i just never bothered to look up the proper name ;)
30x40" on 1.25" frame....
<3 Elephants...
Some recent pieces, brought here all the way from Egypt...
24x58", gallery. Wrapped the image for a finished border....
32x47 on gallery....
Lovely print, 34x44" if I remember right. not a lot of border, so we chose a standard frame. Left out the cross brace so it wouldn't cover the sketch on the back. With prints, a cross brace isn't absolutely necessary - what bends a frame inward is usually the tightening of the canvas as it is painted. Still, I usually add them.
A batch of paintings stretched and ready for delivery. Note the edges - originally bare canvas, now painted to match.
Just framed these two. Lovely pieces.
Another large print stretched in situ. 48x84 if I remember right. Finished with black tape, as one side did not have enough border to wrap to the back. (if you print canvas, it is good practice to allow a 3" border on large pieces for stretching onto a gallery frame. You can even print 1.75" of the border instead of leaving it white - this will look better without frame.)
The workflow of stretching a large (45x81") canvas on site. Assembling the piece in its final location removes the hassle of transporting, and possibly damagin...g, a large print or artwork. A bit of space is required, which there was lots of today. 1. Prepare the frame, cut to measure (in our workshop) 2. Assemble the frame 3. Align the canvas 4. Staple the sides 5. Step back and admire your work ;)
Did these just yesterday... The two smaller ones didn't have enough of a border, so they were stapled at the sides and finished with black fabric tape...
When your buddy says he can frame your canvas for cheap - make sure he/she at least has a mitre saw! Here is an example of a beautiful piece of art, nearly ruined by bad framing. the saving grace was that the glue did not stick to the canvas. Built a new, custom frame, and stretched it.
A beautiful painting of elephants. Originally on a gallery frame, but when it was removed for transport, the back border was cut too narrowly. Thus, the choice of a standard frame. 19.5"x27". #gallerywrap #elephants #painting #framing
Two nice acrylic paintings I #stretched a while back. 20x50" on standard frame. #gallerywrap #canvasstretching #framing #customart #acrylicpainting
Maps appear to be popular this year.... Above a single large map, 32x70 and below a triptych, 22x30 per panel. Both #gallerywrap on standard frame. #framing #canvasprints #map #canvasstretching
Now I know for sure I've seen this one available on eBay, nearly bought one myself :) acrylic on synthetic canvas, 30x40" if memory serves me right, on standard, 0.75" frame. #framing #gallerywrap #canvasstretching #artworkstretching #artfromebay
A lovely painting from Cuba. 11x15" stretched on standard (0.75") frame. #souvenirpainting #gallerywrap #painting #framing
This is a great quality #giclée print I #framed a while ago. 16x20" on gallery frame from a #digitalpainting by #jslattum - note, he included a printed black border to finish the sides of the piece. Small things like that show you he cares about what his art will look like framed.... #canvasstretching #gallerywrap #framing
A canvas project from start to finish. 1. Measuring 2. Cutting the frames 3. Gluing the frames 4. Aligning the canvas... 5. Canvas Stapled See more
all framed by me...
3 20x20" prints. They only had 1" border all the way around, so we went with a slightly thinner than 3/4" frame (basswood, so solid enough)...
These are two pieces i did a while back - love the color :) There was no actual border to the pieces, so we decided to wrap the image - choosing standard stretcher frames, so we'd only "crop" off about one inch. This worked well with the type of synthetic canvas the pieces were on. - it is flexible and sturdy enough that a 1/4 inch wrap at the back was enough to hold the piece stretched without fraying.
Goes to show you can learn something new every day. On a recent framing order, I found two canvases out of a set of three had torn edges. On top of this, one of them didn't have enough border to wrap. The border issue could be remedied by stapling at the sides and finishing the piece off with tape. But the tears presented a bigger issue. Typically, i would have suggested to go with a smaller frame, and wrap some of the image, but i did not like the idea of cropping these. So ...I went and did some research. The first solution: Patching with a piece of canvas over the tear. I thought this might work, but with the tear being at the corner, there would have been a visible difference in thickness showing as a ridge where the patch ended. Also, apparently this does not age well. The other solution: Lining the canvas (mount it to another, stable piece of canvas). Here's how I did it... See more
