On behalf of all walkers and participants of the Canadian Walk For Veterans, National Co-Organizer Chance Burles presents a cheque for $2049.86 to Paul Wagman of Wayfinders Wellness. Wayfinders mission is "To provide a safe space for Military and First Responders suffering from PTSD and their families to come to experience all areas of wellness through nature-based programs and open-minded community centred support." For more information check out their website at https://www....wayfinderswellness.ca/ Eighty percent of net proceeds from the annual Canadian Walk For Veterans is donated to different organizations each year who work hard to provide veterans and first responders with support, rehabilitation services and the tools they need to cope. Most importantly they provide hope and bring a sense of purpose back into their lives. The remaining twenty percent is retained to cover on-going administrative costs of running the society and the annual walk with an all-volunteer leadership team across the country. Planning for the 2021 Canadian Walk For Veterans has already begun with the weekend of September 25/26 as the scheduled date. Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us in making this year bigger and better while helping those who help us. #veteran #veteranadvocate #canwalk4vets #vetshelpingvets #serviceandsacrifice #shoulder2shoulder #walkandtalk #followthesapper #ubique #notweaktospeak #bellletstalk
What does a wedding ring symbolize? A wedding ring is an emblem of love through time, a symbol of devotion and an agreement between two parties to love and cherish one another for the rest of their days. This photo is of Wedding rings taken from prisoners. Found near the Buchenwald concentration camp following its liberation.... Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This picture represents loves, lost. Each one a reminder, Never Again https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content//photo/wedding-rings #canwalk4vets #serviceandsacrifice #shoulder2shoulder #neveragain #holocaustrememberance

Our Champion from the get go in 2018! Here is a message from from WW2 Army Veteran Wolf Solkin of the Algonquin Regiment: "Would that I could, afoot, join with all of you in your Canadian Walk For Veterans this year. However, as in the past, please permit me to parse a pittance of phrases to sing aloud my praises for the support and success of your once-wobbly walk, to the strong strides it now takes, coast to coast, across Canada. EXCELSIOR!" ... Let's show Wolf Wm Solkin some love!!! Congratulations to Stephanie McEvoy, one of our winners of a set of Flair Airlines tickets. This year she was visiting Calgary for the first time and decided to run 5 km with a loaded backpack for the walk. She did not know there were some veterans getting together to walk in Calgary that day. She ran from her Airbnb to Calgary city hall and that day there was a peace officer memorial service. She had an excellent and very special Canadian Walk for Veterans day.
Thanks to Sharon Brown and the Brown family who walked on the forest trails in St Albert. Walking for her Dad, Bert Riswold, a navy and air force veteran and for her Courageous Companions friends. Shoulder to shoulder! Big hugs from the Browns and K9 Malachi.
Thanks to Liz Grevatt Gendreau, our fantastic Team Lead in Philipsburg Quebec who did her walk with Ben (grandson) and Shelby (who apparently decided no face photos)
Thanks to Colette Lachance and members of legion branch 82 who walked in Clarenceville Québec What a beautiful day it was! GOD Bless!
Congratulations Michelle. Bon Voyage!
Thank you to E.A. (Ted) Hawthorne, Honorary Colonel, The British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own) for the following message and pictures of his Canadian Walk For Veterans around Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam BC. The 3rd Annual Canadian Walk for Veterans was held virtually across Canada (on September 26 and 27) with registrants determining their own choice as to how to observe the walk in their own communities, all due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 Protocols. The Honorary Colonel of the Regiment, Ted Hawthorne, continued his tradition with a walk around beautiful Lafarge Lake located in Town Centre Park in central Coquitlam on a mild and cloudy Sunday morning. The net proceeds of this year’s walk will go to help Veterans and First Responders with PTSD to live full and meaningful lives. Up the Dukes!
