"Paulette Guitard, a professor of occupational therapy at the University of Ottawa’s School of Rehabilitation Sciences, believes playfulness could help mitigate some of the stress and anxiety prompted by the pandemic. Her research has found adults who are more playful are able to make the best out of a bad situation. They tend to see adversity as a challenge and look for ways to adapt and carry out activities that give them meaning, purpose and joy, Guitard said"-

We're practicing gratitude this season and at the top of our list is YOU! We are grateful to have you as a part of our strong community of Canadian occupational therapists, occupational therapist assistants, students, corporate associates, and retired occupational therapists. On behalf of all of us at CAOT and your colleagues across the country, we wish you a wonderful holiday season. Though it will look a bit different for most of us, we hope you can connect with friends, f...amily, and pets, and find joy in your favourite occupations. Important reflections from ACE-Qc occupational therapists.

Celebrate OT month with us by attending the FREE Muriel Driver Lecture, Mobilizing occupation for social transformation: Radical resistance, disruption & reconfiguration on October 29th, 12pm ET- https://buff.ly/2IGYH98 #OT365 The Muriel Driver Memorial Lecture is an opportunity to reflect on the current and future state of the profession, the way it is practiced and the way it could be practised. This year, the lecture will be given virtually by Deborah Laliberte Rudman, whose scholarly work exploring the broader socio-political systems and structures that shape occupational possibilities, particularly for marginalized populations, has brought a fresh perspective to understanding occupation one that challenges us to apply a critical lens to the use of power and privilege that influences opportunities to engage in occupation.
