JOB POSTING Cape Breton Community Housing Association (CBCHA) Homelessness Program Cape Breton Community Housing’s Homelessness Program is currently looking for ... Casual Workers. Our current vacancy is at our homeless shelter; however, depending on qualifications, there is vast opportunity for growth and advancement within our program. Our Homelessness Program consists of an Emergency Shelter, Housing First Program, Youth Programs, Community Outreach and referral services. Areas of responsibility (for the current position) include: - Assisting clients in accessing available resources within the community as needed. - Providing support and rehabilitative services through referral and in-house counseling. - Ensure the smooth running of the shelter and providing a safe environment for all. Qualifications vary depending on positions within our program. The minimum qualifications being: - A post-secondary diploma/degree (or currently enrolled in) - Current certification in SFA/CPR - Current criminal record check - Flexibility to work back shifts, weekends and holidays Knowledge of community programs and resources; as well as experience working with individuals experiencing (or at risk of) homelessness would be considered an asset. Transit Cape Breton and CBRM are offering free bus rides through July and August to try to boost ridership when the trial period is over. The launch of the bus ...free service is set for 10:45 this morning at the transit building on Welton Street. There will be a survey provided in the buses and online for passengers to give their feedback.
