December 5 to 7, 2009 & beyond many lives changed forever. Today, December 5, 2020, CBSAR members are participating in Electronic Search Specialist (ESS) training to become new Project Lifesaver Officers - so others may live. 11 years have passed and the loss is still bitter today but will not be in vain. Honouring James
We thought we could have an open Question and Answer post: you ask it and we’ll do our best to answer it or poll our members and answer! We’re pretty visible this weekend, or maybe you’ve seen our post about our training weekend and maybe you’ve had some questions! Like, what is Project Lifesaver? What’s our favorite snacks to bring on a search? Why do we hate jeans? Are our phones ever on silent? Post below
May we honour and remember all that we have gained through those we have lost.
You've been waiting for it. We've been waiting for it. Our new website is LIVE. www.cbsar.info

Did you know that we don’t have a dedicated building for our team? For 51 years we’ve had meetings in coffee shops, halls, living rooms, parking lots, back decks and front yards. We always make do - but should we have to?

We just want to take the opportunity to remind everyone to take precautions to stay safe throughout the storm. Check on neighbours, follow emergency preparedness advice. Save your hikes for another day and stay away from the coastlines(!!!!!!).

Congratulations to Shannon Peters of Point Edward, the winner of our 50-50 draw! Shannon takes home $1455. A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported this. We’ll be back in 2021 with our Building Fund!

Better to be over prepared than under. We’ll tie down everything but ourselves - last year we were called out the day hurricane Dorian landed! Anytime, anywhere!

We are on scene in Alder Point with Cape Breton Regional Police. Police ATV’s & our ATV’s will be on the trails in this area today as well as on foot. Please use caution if you need to be in the area.
We are so saddened & heartbroken to have lost one of ours. Jen was been with us since 2006 and left us with so many sweet, and often hilarious, memories. She was so confident, open, and ready for anything. Her love for us, animals, her family and everything around her was so, so bright. Her bravery for life will inspire us and her positivity will linger in our hearts for as long we go on. Your final tasking, Jenn, is to rest peacefully.
In remembrance of Swiss Air 111, September 2, 1998. We think of the victims, families, the community & our current and past members & colleagues who responded - and will remember this day forever.

The 14-year-old youth who was reported missing from Eskasoni on August 13 has been located by police and is safe. At approximately 11:30 pm last night, the RCM...P Air Services reported a fire in an isolated location in the Canoe Lake area. RCMP officers on the ground made their way to this area and at 1 a.m. they located the missing girl and the man she was believed to be with. Both were taken into police custody without incident and transported out of the wooded area. The youth has been released, the man remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing. Multiple RCMP detachments and the Cape Breton Regional Police Service are collaborating on the investigation. This was an excellent cooperative effort to locate the missing youth. The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance and retweets on social media. File # 20191296170

Our team was dispatched last evening to aide in the search for a single male in the New Boston Road area. We’re happy to update that the lost party was found well and guided out at 01:30 concluding a quick and successful search.
We are on scene in the 8th street area aiding Cape Breton Regional Police in a search. We understand this is a very tight knit community and the concern is high, but we ask that you trust the process, avoid the area and do NOT approach members on their taskings.
Our hearts are with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia, our search colleagues on the mainland who have had their communities shaken and the families of everyone affected.
Please note that all further official updates will be made via Twitter @RCMPNS https://mobile.twitter.com/RCMPNS
Way to go Colchester!
After consultation with our Board of Directors, and following suit with provincial and national guidelines, we, as a team are ceasing all indoor operations for the time being. This does include our March 50/50 draw which will take place at a later (undetermined) date. The outdoors offer endless learning and experience during these times(and always). We encourage you to explore safely, leave trip plans with loved ones and enjoy the connections you make with yourselves and na...ture. As always, we’re ready to respond when dispatched. Also, wash your hands. A lot.
In light of recent developments with the COVID-19, and out of caution and a respect for our community and members, we have have decided to cancel our public ticket sales scheduled this weekend at the Mayflower Mall. Our draw will still proceed on March 16. If you would like to purchase tickets, you are able to do so via e-transfer. Please private message us to coordinate that.
