The Community Engagement Team at Capital Core Financial helping to raise funds for young women in Canada who are concerned about and diagnosed with breast cancer. We know that many of you support the Canadian Cancer Society (as do we), but we wanted to let you know about this amazing organization that we are supporting - Rethink Breast Cancer. As community-minded women, we feel pulled to support and raise funds for this organization, as many of us know someone who has been af...fected (either directly or indirectly) by breast cancer. Any donation is much appreciated and of course a tax receipt will be provided. Rethink' Mission Statement: Rethink Breast Cancer exists to empower young women concerned about or diagnosed with breast cancer, wherever they are in the world and in the moments they need it most. Rethink Breast Cancer has changed the conversation surrounding breast cancer to include young women. Their campaigns bring positive energy to the cause and echo the unique concerns of young women. Since 2001 Rethink has grown into a global social movement that has raised millions to support empower and advocate for young women. Rethink’s advocacy program boldly puts young women’s issues on the agenda and tackles issues like access to treatment and gaps in care. We are working closely with young women, placing them at the center of making much needed changes to improve breast cancer services, treatment, education and research for all women. Our CCF fundraising page for ReThink: http://amplify.netdonor.net//raise-funds-4-rethink/70668/c Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and consider this post, and thank you as well to those who contribute to this cause, whether through this initiative or any other.

We had a great day volunteering at the Run for WaterTrail race this past weekend. Also, big congratulations to Chris Elliott of Capital Core Financial for being impulsive and deciding to run the race 3 min before the gun went off. Chris captured 2nd place (only 1 min behind the first place finisher) while wearing Dish & Duer performance jeans, and a pair of street shoes with zero traction...on what was probably the wettest and muddiest day of the year. All proceeds for this race go towards clean water projects in Ethiopia. To learn more visit: https://runforwater.ca/

The Financial Industry is Changing - For the Better Marissa and Franco standing with Paul Desmarais III - Canadian billionaire, SVP of Power Financial. Paul is also the director of: -Great-West Life ... -Investors Group -Mackenzie -Wealthsimple -Pargesa Franco and Marissa had the opportunity to hear Paul speak in San Diego about the future of the financial industry and the impact of emerging and rapidly growing Fintech’s (financial technology companies). Some fintech’s are offering do-it-yourself investors lower fees (in *some cases) and easier access. WealthSimple, a Canadian online investment management service, has a well-organized easy-to-use dashboard and their slick mobile app puts the power of your investments into the palm of your hand. The request for lower fees and better service is driving the industry in the right direction - to a value driven one. It’s pushing clients to ask their advisors what am I paying you for? Our team meets weekly to discuss how we can be of additional value to our clients. What can we do to make their lives easier while managing their wealth effectively, so that they can focus on their families, health and careers.

At Capital Core Financial, we are continually thinking about how we can effectively integrate technology in order to minimize our carbon footprint. During the past few years we have allocated resources towards going more digital in our day-to-day operations. Others working in the financial industry can attest to the amount of wasted paper that is used. Instead of simply accepting this, we have and continue to make changes such as -Digitizing all of our files -Taking notes in ...client meetings on our laptops (instead of meeting note paper) -Minimizing hardcopy handouts during presentations -Eliminating all of our business cards -Encouraging our team to be mindful when printing documents -Completing applications digitally when possible Encouraging the companies we work with to transition to digital applications -Braining storming on other ways that we can save paper All of the above allow us to significantly reduce our paper use, however as a result of industry compliance regulations, we are still far away from being a completely paperless company. In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, on-boarding various technologies has also helped streamline our various internal systems. With smart planning, going green can be a win-win! #digitization #technology #goinggreen #carbonfootprint

Have you ever experienced joy from an act of kindness, helping others in need, or making a charitable contribution? Extensive research shows that spending money on ourselves does not significantly increase our sense of happiness or well being. A Harvard Business School study (link below) suggests that giving to others is directly correlated with an increased sense of happiness. The Harvard researchers write: "Happier people give more and giving makes people happier, such that happiness and giving may operate in a positive feedback loop." There's lots of opportunity in your local community - get involved! https://hbswk.hbs.edu//feeling-good-about-giving-the-benef

Giving back is a big part of our company philosophy at Capital Core Financial. We believe that helping others ignites our spirits and drives us to become better versions of ourselves. This month we had the opportunity to partner-up with an amazing local organization - A Better Life Foundation. Our team took over the famous Save on Meats restaurant located in the Lower Eastside of Downtown Vancouver in order to cook and serve food to many local residents living on the stree...ts who never experience a 3 course meal. Our $5,000 donation provided a hearty 3 course meal for over 160 people that evening, and will continue to provide an additional 1,000 meals throughout the year! The event, Plenty of Plates was an amazing experience, bringing together our team and some friends, and connecting us with our community in the downtown eastside. We chatted, cooked, cleaned, and served food and non-alcoholic beverages to a lot of hungry people. While we were able to provide hot meals and a warm space that evening and into the holidays, this is an-ongoing issue for our community in the downtown Eastside. Together we can make a difference. We encourage you all to support this organization. Engage your team, friends, families, and clients - get involved! Thank you Mark Brand for creating this opportunity, to Evan Sidwell for hosting the evening, to the staff at Save On Meats for their guidance in the kitchen, to Olivia Leigh Nowak for capturing the even on camera, and of course to our support team and friends who joined us for this incredible experience. Embrace the rain Wanna know the secret to coping with the grey, damp rainy weather here in Vancouver? Shift your mindset and embrace it.... Get outside. Get excited to get wet. Bring a friend. Hiking and Jogging in the rain is an awesome experience when you surrender to it. The forest seems to breathe and the fog creates an almost mystical experience (mystical...haha). Plus, rain in the city = snow in the mountains. Mind blown! For those of you who don't snow angel, snowshoe, ski or snowboard - you really are missing out. The mountains during the winter are an amazing, inspiring place to play - especially for children. Don't be that guy/girl that's always complaining and suffering about the weather. You're more adaptable than that. Acknowledge your choice point. Shift your mindset and develop a positive attitude towards the winter season. Commit to yourself and make time for playtime. That feels good right?
