Message from the District Hello fellow Toastmasters! I hope this email finds you relaxed and enjoying this beautiful summer!... While the world is slowly progressing through phases of reopening our communities, District 61 wants to reiterate our deepest desire for all our members to remain safe while enjoying the immense benefits of our Toastmasters community. Although we are seeing many restrictions being reduced, the threat of COVID remains very real and we need to remain extremely cautious. Many of us have been impacted by COVID through the loss of a job, illness (ourselves and/or our families), and the tremendous strain the long days of screen time are having on our mental health. Please take care of yourselves and support your friends, families, and fellow club mates! Please closely follow the local health authorities for your region when considering a possible return to meeting in person. Keep the health & safety of our members at the forefront including the accessibility for members to attend the club based on their personal preferences for physical distancing. Clubs are encouraged to conduct a vote with their membership regarding any changes to meeting location. This will protect clubs and each member. Keep in mind some members remain in a higher risk category. A few options to consider: 1) Clubs may remain meeting 100% online until we hear otherwise from Toastmasters International 2) Consider a hybrid option where members who are comfortable to meet in person may do so while keeping the virtual option available for others 3) Alternate meetings in person or virtually 4) Consider having a FUN social event in person while keeping your regular meetings online However you and your clubs decide to proceed, please stay safe!
