We recently rearranged for more dine in seating. We are open today for lunch serving beer and sandwiches until the Velvet Olive opens at 4pm.
In 1938, Percy Wightman Johnston and Robert Maurice Beatty acquired the Crescent Bowling Alley building and converted it into the Capitol Theatre. Beatty and Johnston were dedicated to their theatre, and to their community. Both served as members of City Council, and Mr. Johnston also served on the hospital board for several years. Mr. Beatty served as City alderman from 1941-46 and was the president of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, Red Deer Curling Club and Rotory Club. Now, their portraits watch over and inspire us to cultivate community and culture in Downtown Red Deer.
