Hello Toronto! The sun is out and the weather is beautiful! We hope everyone is getting their dose of vitamin D today. Today, we would like to address a very popular and frequently asked question. "What is the difference between ice cream and gelato?"... That is an excellent question as many people think that gelato is just the Italian word for ice cream. Gelato in comparison to ice cream, has a lower fat content. This is because gelato is made with more whole milk than cream, which ends up being about five to seven percent fat, while ice cream legally has a minimum of 10% fat. It's also less airy than ice cream because it is churned at a slower rate, leading to denser, more intense flavours. Finally, gelato is served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream. The end result is a very flavourful and delicious summer treat minus the extra calories. Our gelato on average has around 70 calories in a single scoop. More yummy without the tummy. Enjoy!
