Not one fishing family in Nova Scotia and beyond can read this news article without a total sense of dread and the most profound feelings of sadness and grief. This is our worst fear brought to reality. We offer the most sincere and heartfelt condolences to all the families and friends of these six fishermen lost at sea. Our hearts are broken for all of you and we grieve with you, whether we know you or not. To those of you who do not have intimate knowledge of what it is li...ke to be a fisherman, or part of a fishing family....the sea is the worst place to face an emergency situation. I just finished a marine emergency duties course, and a marine first aid course. Going to sea knowing how difficult and quick an emergency can be, and what your odds of coming through one alive are, illustrates how very brave and dedicated these individuals are.
