T'was the night before lobstering and all through the district, not a boat was moving as the rules they restrict it. The boats are piled high with crustation traps, alls quiet except for the waves as they slap. Oilgear is ready, bait bags are filled, Lunchboxes will be jammed full & coffee will be spilled.... ... The men are on edge and the women are wishin, that the good weather holds and the boys can go fishin. At first light tomorrow they'll steam from the docks, go drop those traps amoungst the seaweed & rocks. The radio will come alive with all sorts of chatter, some of it serious, some stuff that doesn't matter. They'll laugh and they'll joke & they'll start talking trash, boasting to see who'll haul in the most cash. At the end of the day they'll steam for homeport, unwind, grub up and give wifey the report. Next day they'll get up and head out once more, Such is life of the lobstermen who fish our beautiful shore ~Tania Stowbridge~ See more
