You could almost skate on the ice on the diamond this afternoon. It would be pretty impressive if we were able to create a rink over the entire infield.
LAST CHANCE TO SAVE THE RINK I have included pictures that show the type of vandalism I have been facing on a daily basis this year and how much of the rink has melted over the past several days. I will not continue with the rink without committed volunteers.... Volunteers need to come out on MONDAY NIGHT at 9pm to learn how to maintain the rink and commit to a schedule. If I get enough I will continue, if I don't, the rink will be closed for the year and I will have to consider whether or not to continue next winter. Message me through this page or indicate your intention to help in the comments.
IMPORTANT NOTICE Call for volunteers It has been a challenging winter weather-wise which by itself, I could cope with. But coupled with a lack of volunteers and repeated anti-social behaviour and rule-breaking that leads to damaged ice and increased maintenance, I am getting worn down.... In order for the ice rink to continue, volunteers need to come out on MONDAY NIGHT at 9pm to learn how to maintain the rink and commit to a schedule. If I get enough I will continue, if I don't, the rink will be closed for the year and I will have to consider whether or not to continue next winter. CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE The reason I closed the rink was to try to preserve the thin layer of ice that remains after the warm spell and to try to build it up to get through the next five warm days. Five selfish people ignored the closed signs and skated anyway. This picture shows the results.
Friday January 29 RINK CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE I am busy all day, but will unlock the shed this afternoon to provide access to shovels. If the snow has been cleared off the rink I will add some water tonight to try to thicken up the ice to withstand the next 5 days of warm weather.... After Wednesday, if there is enough ice left and I have had some committed volunteers to help build the ice back up, I might be able to keep it going longer, otherwise, it will be done for the winter. Please indicate in the comments or message me if you are willing to help.
