#GOODNEWS: IJM Dominican Republic and Aerodom, the largest network of airports in the DR, have signed an agreement to bring an end to #sextrafficking in the cou...ntry! This exciting new partnership will work with IJM to combat sex trafficking by: launching awareness campaigns in terminals training staff to recognize the signs of trafficking establishing additional protocols to report these crimes to local authorities This is the first collaborative agreement that IJM DR has signed with the business sector. As IJM makes new partnerships, the aviation industry is an essential private sector partner to ensure greater impact and achieve protection for those living in vulnerable situations. It's wonderful to see a growing demand for protection in the DR. We are excited to see what this partnership will do! #UntilAllAreFree

There’s a fuzzy new patient at our #MarineMammalRescue centre Repost @marinemammalrescue ... Meet our latest patient: A female juvenile sea otter rescued yesterday from Port Hardy. The pup hasn't been named yet. She is believed to still be dependent, but has a full set of teeth and a good appetite. (Any naming ideas? Let us know in the comments & also tell us why you think the name would fit!) We would like to thank everyone involved in the rescue the Marine Education & Research Society, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Pacific Coastal Airlines for getting her to us safely. #ottersofinstagram #seaotter #otter #seaotterpup #seaotterlove #seaottercanada #seaotterweek #seaotterawareness #seaottersarethebest #animalphotography #cuteanimals #cuteanimalshot #cuteanimalsofinstagram

Have you ever seen a duck wearing boots? Meet Fiver, a 10-year-old ringed teal who lives in the Amazon Gallery at the Vancouver Aquarium. He has some sores o...n the bottom of his feet and these neoprene booties allow him to have a soft surface to stand on so his feet can heal. Usually varied perching is the most straightforward way of solving and preventing this issue, but due to some mobility issues, Fiver doesn’t perch very well, so boots it is. He has two pairs yellow and pink so we can alternate to clean and dry them. Fiver is currently being housed behind-the-scenes where our animal care staff can keep a close eye on him, along with two of his friends (Luke Skywalker and Peaky) so he has his preferred social circle with him while he heals. We may be temporarily closed, but animal care never stops. Photo credit: Chelsea, Aquarium Biologist, Tropics

'I was following these two cubs over a period of a couple of weeks in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy near the Masai Mara. It was an unusually heavy rainy season... and I never saw these poor little cubs dry! They were constantly on the move with their mom to find food and were harassed by hyenas, lions and baboons.' - Alison Buttigieg Wildlife Photography See more
