Another custom piece in the works tonight, and I thought it'd be neat to give a peek behind the curtain at the sorts of lengths I go to track down source data. This piece required a composite of four separate maps, three from one source and one from an entirely different source. Some Illustrator manipulation and scalework within Silhouette Design studio, and I can finally get down to the contour business. Based on some pointed customer feedback, I recently took an opportunity to revisit one of my early designs - Lake Simcoe! Back in 2016, both my design work as well as source maps were just in their infancy, and some details and features may have been overlooked or omitted. Using my more established resources, I reworked our Lake Simcoe map from the ground up, redesigning it line by line. ... Swipe through the pics to see the change! The new and improved version now features Lake Couchiching to the north, as well as improved detail levels in all the contours! I think the new version is a real 2.0 upgrade and is available on the Etsy site now. Remember folks, I'm just a guy who likes to make maps!
