This is SO valuable for us! If you listen to CHRI Radio at all, please consider filling it out (it can be anonymous). It's really the best way for us to get a sense of our audience, your listening habits, preferences, and experience with us. Deadline is April 1st. THANK YOU!!!
Spring After 12 years of living in a townhouse, it was my dream to have a front porch. I'll be spending a lot of time here. Do you have a favourite place at (or near) your home?
This gal has spent every day for the past 6 years by my side (literally). We have laughed and cried, mourned and celebrated. We've created memories On Air and off, shared unique experiences, met interesting people, and tried new foods. I've watched her fall in love and get married, find her stride and come out of her shell. I've witnessed her grow both professionally and personally and bring digital/social media to a whole new level at CHRI. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be friends with your co-workers but here, we're family and family is never truly gone. It's the end of a chapter for us, but the start of a new adventure for her and I couldn't be more proud. You'll be missed @vegwithash but I'll be watching for new recipes and I'll keep sending you Reels I know only YOU will 'get'
7 years ago today I was a bird. My nephew's thought it was pretty cool. (from 9th Hour Theatre Company The Magician's Nephew)
He made mistakes, her daughter witnessed those mistakes, and writes a song that says I forgive you. Beautiful story of forgiveness, reconciliation and it’s never too late to start over with family.
Just days after mentioning (with slight envy ) on the #CHRIhomestretch the hilarious names school children have given to snowplows in Scotland, I learn plows in my own area are getting fun names too! "Truck Norris", "Snow Way Jose" and "Saltzing Matilda" are my favourites!
Getting basic things done during a pandemic is such a challenge! I FINALLY got new glasses ... and my son didn't recognize me at first! My vision changed during pregnancy so I had to wait a few months postpartum to get my eyes checked (I was already overdue). Now to find time to go to the dentist
I loved getting to join this incredible group of peers in a roundtable discussion on the importance of Christian radio. Check out our conversation and learn a little about the history of Christian radio in Canada and why we each love what we do. Happy 20th anniversary @myjoyradio!
Christopher Plummer, a National treasure, died at 91 today with his wife of 53 years by his side. While his acting repertoire was extensive and international, he was proud to be Canadian and always made time for projects here. If you'd like to admire his smooth, low, calming, voice, here he is narrating one of the animated cartoons my dad's film company made in the 80's. (He also narrated Rumpelstiltskin and The Toy Soldier) Enjoy! https://youtu.be/cKJLrgJ8B-U... #crawleyfilms #ChristopherPlummerRIP #VelveteenRabbit
Happy New Year! I am praying for the best 2021 has to offer... Good health, connection, and opportunities! I spent some time reflecting on 2020. There was a lot of suffering this year and a lot of darkness but we gained a lot too. Here are a few of my thoughts: This was the year everything changed.... This was the year we'd learned the importance of human connection, and that connection can happen even when you're not in the same room, country, or continent. We learned to appreciate the friends and family that are near to us, and the businesses that help make up our communities. This is a year spurred on innovation and creativity, empathy and compassion and equality. I hope we never have to hide our smiles behind a mask again, or wear sweatpants for weeks on end because there's no point in dressing up. We learned that our actions affect others, and being lonely hurts our hearts and minds, and that community takes work & intentionality. (we also learned that a whole year of binge-watching Netflix and pigging out on junk food isn't the healthiest way to spend our time!) I believe that in 2020, we truly understood that we can't get through challenges alone (it takes everyone doing their part), but that we don't have to do it alone because God is with us. We have lost and suffered and we will need time to heal, but we have also grown stronger and God will use our victory story to make a difference in the lives of others for generations to come. ~ Care
This is insane and gives me goosebumps! He was alone, in a pocket of air under the sunken boat, pitch black, for three days praying.
Bring on 2021!!
Merry Christmas!! I hope you had a special 2020 Christmas celebration. The dinner table wasn't as full and the gift-opening wasn't as loud, but my hope was that it would be memorable and it was! Levi loves his FAO Schwartz dancing piano and mini beanbag chair, and all the books and toys he got from family. We are thankful for family and loved ones, near and far, and for the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. And now... Happy Lockdown 2.0!
Candy cane ice cream at work... No shame
This is the first bloom in so many years!! This was a cutting from the huge Christmas cactus my late grandmother had in her front window for as long as I could remember. My cousin got a cutting and then passed the baby plant to me when she died and I was so worried after it not blooming for so many years that I wasn't taking care of it. It's funny how a plant can feel like a piece of someone is still with us. Je pense à toi, Grandmaman Joyeux Noël
