MEET THE RESEARCHER: Narae Ju, B.A, Doctoral Student of Psychology, Ph.D. Candidate Narae is a PhD candidate in the department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. She has also completed a Master of Arts in Developmental Psychology at Chung-Ang University in Korea. Her research interests are primarily related to the area of children’s language and cognitive development. Narae’s focus is on how children understand their communicative partner’s mind and use this inform...ation for successful communication. She has co-published a number of scholarly journals relating to concepts of cognitive brain development and factors that may impact this in children and adolescents. MEET THE RESEARCHER: Lorraine Reggin, B.A. (Hon), M.Sc., Speech-Language Pathology, PhD Candidate Lorraine is a PhD candidate in the Language Processing Lab, part of the University of Calgary’s ChILD Research Group. Lorraine worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for 10 years in Calgary schools, was a stay at home mom to two boys, and is now pursuing a passion to explore her research interests and bridging that with her clinical practice. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in... Linguistics with Honours at the University of Calgary and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of British Columbia University of British Columbia. She is studying how children learn abstract vocabulary, words that refer to something you cannot see or touch; like justice, friendship, and hope.
