This year hasn't been easy for charities who rely on support to be able to provide many of their essential services to people who need it the most in our community. As a not-for-profit, we've had to pivot to adapt our fundraising in a COVID-19 world, but thanks to our donors and supporters who were willing to make the transition with us, we were able to continue to bring in essential funds to support our programs and services. With numbers of COVID-19 cases rising, isolated seniors in our community are needing our support now more than ever. On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we are highlighting Carefor’s Let’s Get Together (LGT) Club, which is a unique local mental health support group for older adults living with or at risk of mental illness. For many, this program is their lifeline. During this time of heightened social isolation, Carefor staff are still reaching out to our LGT clients, ensuring they’re... safe and connected. Before the pandemic, we got the chance to speak to Helen, who shared how much of an impact this program has had on her life. #ottawa #mentalhealth #depression

In honour of #WomensHistoryMonth, we want to celebrate all the women who have made, and continue to make, a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals and their families in our communities. Many people don’t know that Carefor was originally the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). In fact, Ottawa was where it was founded. We started out small in 1897 with just two women going around Ottawa with a horse and buggy attending to the needs of the most vulnerable. #Bec...auseOfYou, more than a century later, our caring team of diverse staff continue to deliver essential home care and community support services to thousands of people each year. We couldn’t be more proud. Thank you. #TBT #Throwback #VictorianOrderofNurses #SafeatHome #Ottawa #Pembroke #Cornwall
