Hafeez Dossa is the Pharmacy Manager at CareRx Parksville. As a pharmacist, he's enthusiastic about patient health and improving complex therapy regimens. As a manager, his priority is to give his passionate team the resources to reach their goals. This year, Hafeez and his team initiated a project to reduce the over-prescription of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in residents. PPIs treat heartburn and acid reflux, but can contribute to side effects and drug interactions. The t...eam found they were able to taper the amount residents needed to take. The findings reduced the risk for adverse drug reactions and supported nursing staff workload.
