With the 2020-2021 cultural season upon us, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an outsized effect on the arts and culture sector in Canada. To make sure your voice is heard, CARFAC Ontario has joined forces with 30 national and provincial arts service organizations representing a range of artistic disciplines across the country to develop the National Arts and Culture Impact Survey (NACIS). All arts organizations, artists, and arts workers across Canada are encouraged to participate in the survey by Monday, November 23, 2020. Join us tonight for our pre-AGM panel "Crisis As A Catalyst For Change", an enriching intergenerational dialogue between two emergent and established voices independent curator, critic, writer, arts administrator, and community organizer Vince Rozario; in conversation with accomplished writer, critic, curator, contemporary artist and public intellectual Zainub Verjee. The conversation will examine the sustainability of both an individual arts practice as well as long-term c...ommunity supports for marginalized artists; interrogating both of these challenges using a framework of "crisis as a catalyst for change". How have artists historically navigated these power structures? How has the current moment of crisis exacerbated these barriers? What opportunities does the moment offer for meaningful & sustainable long-term transformation? The talk & meeting will be held online, via Zoom, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
