‘Twas the night before Christmas As we shelter in place, The feeling is different But we don’t miss the race.... As we celebrate in alternative ways Let’s stay positive and pray to the One above Together we can do this To come together soon again and enjoy those we love This Christmas season and always, we pray that you will have everlasting happiness, joy and hope. We hope that you will be reminded of the goodness in your life that makes your heart full. We hope you can find joy in life’s simple pleasures. We hope we can get back to a new and better normal, so that we can continue to serve our CCA family and friends. The Caribbean Chinese Association wishes our CCA community a safe, healthy and happy holiday with family and friends, full of peace, laughter and (one) love! Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas! We keep on keeping on! The Caribbean Chinese Association through its CCA Cares initiative selected the Markham Food Bank as a recipient for one of its charitable donations. The Markham Food Bank has a continuous need, big or small, year round. As we approach the Holiday season, we encourage our community to consider donating to the Markham Food Bank and helping those who can use the assistance, particularly during this time. Congratulations to Patricia Chin and VP Records on the launch of the Autobiographical coffee table book, Miss Pat. The book contains amazing photos and artwork to compliment the history of co-founders Vincent and Patricia Chin of Randy's Record Mart (North Parade, JA). Partial proceeds will go towards The VandPFoundation.org. VP Records is the world’s biggest independent reggae label.

CASTING CALL! The CCA is putting out feelers in helping one of our own within the Caribbean Chinese community. We are looking for someone to play a true Chinese-Jamaican father. No acting experience is necessary - just a willingness to learn and be your authentic self. Are you willing to provide a self video audition? ... Ideally someone who is in their 60’s - 70’s - Chinese-Jamaican (Chinese by race, born and raised in Jamaica with a Jamaican accent). The character plays a cantankerous, Chinese-Jamaican immigrant who has no problem saying exactly what is on his mind! Or can you play the role? This project requires shooting a scene or two with the lead character and playing the role of a father who is terminally ill and ventures on a journey with his son, who drives his father cross-country to an alternative medicine facility, a journey that severely tests their already strained relationship. Interested or know of someone that might be? Contact the CCA at [email protected] and let us know.

Greetings to the CCA Community and All, Hoping you, your families, loved ones and friends continue to keep well and safe. Despite what we all have been experiencing through this pandemic and these unprecedented and challenging times, perhaps now more than ever we need to take a moment to pause and remember to give thanks to what is most important in our lives - our family, friends and health. ... Though this Thanksgiving may look and feel different, not being surrounded in the kitchen and at the dinner table with family and friends celebrating, chatting, drinking and consuming to our bellies delight, we hope each of you have had the opportunity to continue the experience in a similar, perhaps smaller way. The CCA continues to meet on a monthly basis and, like the rest of you, we adapt to the times by conducting these meetings virtually. Bringing the community together has been the cornerstone of the CCA and we look forward to the time when we can bring everyone together again. For now, know that the CCA continues to serve and keep all of you in our thoughts. We hope each of you have had the opportunity to pause, reflect and give thanks in the spirit of this holiday weekend tradition. Wishing each of you have had and continue to have a wonderful and blessed holiday! Happy Thanksgiving! The Caribbean Chinese Association
