I hit my mat this morning with the intention of strong inversions, playing with my yoga wheel and working on some arm balances. Although these components were apart of my practice, this is where I ended up....in legs up the wall. When I find stillness, I find grounding, lessons, spaces to expand and grow. Although stillness is sometimes in meditation, listening to the last of a great song playing in the car, in my yin or restorative practice or grounding in a few extra de...ep breaths before going into a meeting or class, it is always there when I need it. The past few weeks have felt heavy, but the crazy part about a busy life is that I only notice the weight when I stop. When I invite these few moments of stillness, quiet the mind...this is when I learn the most. I can dedicate my energy and effort into my inversions and balances, but if I don't find the balance in the yin and the yang of life (the run and the stop). Have you ever tried to force the mind to quiet? Force a feeling of forgiveness? Force a relationship that didn't feel right? When we force things, come at them with expectations on how it should be, NEED to be, we want it to be. When we do this, we aren't approaching life with the intent to understand. When we force things, we create turbulence in our lives. What if we try to understand why the mind won't quiet, why we aren't able to forgive (at this time), or why the relationship has run its course. If we quit forcing, and start softening into the present moment, we can explore these feelings and experiences, opening ourselves to the vast possibilities of what life can be and what is to come. We can be at peace

Let’s start the week with some L-O-V-E Here is a quick meditation if you need to ground down, look within or create space for yourself. If you are in your office chair, able to sit comfortably on the floor, lying in bed, or in any comfortable space. Take 3 nice full, deep cleansing breaths, full deep inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Allow the lips to softly touch after the last cleansing breath, draw the awareness to your natural breath cycle. Allow...ing the inhale and exhale to gently flow through the nose. Gently begin to scan through the body. Notice the scalp, eyebrows, space between the eyes, cheeks, jaw and chin. Feel the placement of the shoulders and upper back. The length of the spine, the core and abdomen. How are your feeling through your hips, legs and feet? Notice the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands. Are they gripping the floor or the body? Are they soft and relaxed or tight and rigid? Acknowledge any strong underlying emotions or moods that arise. Take a moment here. Bring the awareness back to the breath. Rest your mind on the flow of the breath, the rise and fall of the chest, back &/or belly. Hold the awareness here for a few full, deep breaths. Begin to draw the breath to the heart space. Draw the feeling or sensation of love into this space. Mentally say to yourself with each inhale I love myself and with the exhale I give love to all. Maintain this practice for a few moments. Repeating the phrases with each breath cycle. Return to your natural breath cycle. Allowing the breath to flow freely and fully. When you are ready, draw your awareness back to your space and any feelings or sensations within the body. When you are ready, flutter the eyes open and pause before returning to your day. This exercise can be done any time you need a pick me up or need too come back to the present moment. Make it a great day yogi’s!

Each class is $20, however, during this time frame, this is cost is per household, and not individual ( must be living within the same household and abiding by Government of Alberta and AHS mandates).
