15 years ago I created this painting for a Black History Month art show. I titled it Mixed Blood. It was the piece that launched my artistic style and is very special to me. I am a woman of mixed race and identify as black although my ancestry would reveal Irish, Venezuelan and Trini Creole in the mix. The concept behind this painting is to reveal the beauty we all have within us regardless of our ancestral or cultural mix. What if we could see each other from the insid...e out and our essence could be seen on our skin?
